My picks for my "new" island CD

Post by AnyTing »

I know, I know, we've done the "what songs would you put on your island CD or ipod" to death. However, I don't generally see some of the songs I gravitate to. So.....I thought for those who are interested in exploring something a little "different," here are the songs I just put on my newly made, just popped out of the CD burner, St. John 2006 CD:

Every breath you take (UB40)
Shame & Scandal (Madness)
I melt with you (Jason Mraz)
Slave to Love (Elan Atias)
Soak up the Sun (Cheryl Crow)
True (Black Eyed Peas)
Hold me Now (Wayne Wonder)
Ghost in You (Mark McGrath)
Sweat (Inner Circle)
Pure Shores (All Saints)
Island in the Sun (Weezer)
Spinning Away (Sugar Ray)
Porcelain (Moby)
Wild World (Maxi Priest)
Kingston Town (UB40)
Iko Iko (Belle Stars)
Tide is High (Blondie)
Love Generation (Bob Sinclair)
Time of Your Life (Chrisinti)
Blame it on De Music (Rupee)
Sunshine Reggae (The Kingston Reggae Sound Machine)
Drive (Ziggy Marley)
Lips like Sugar (Seal)
Everybody Wants to Rule the World (Ken Boothe)
Your Love (Wyclef Jean)
Do you Really Want to Hurt Me (Culture Club)

Enjoy!

I love looking at other people's playlists--it gives me ideas for the next trip cd. I'll check these out over the t-day break. Thanks for sharing!

A few "standard" songs for my playlists are: "Israelites" by Desmond Dekker, "Take Me Home Country Roads" by Toots & The Maytals, Jimmy Buffett's "Manana" and "Blue Guitar" and all his songs, Bob Marley and a newly discovered song "Some Beach" by Blake Shelton.

Bumping this up for the WI and vicinity forumites and music fans here.
I heard a great tune for an island playlist on Radio Margaritavilla called "Callin' In Gone" by the Boat Drunks.
Anybody in midwest or elsewhere familar with these guys?
From their website www.boatdrunks.com seems like they are a party/Buffett tribute band who also do original work in the JB mold.
The albums listed on the site dont seem to contain this particular song and likely not available as download anywhere, so would like to know where this recording came from - I may have to email their webmaster (?) to find out.
