Chateau Le Tete Rouge Villa Help

Post by IslandGuy »

Has anyone stayed at this villa before? On one of the rental sites it mentioned that they have 3 mosquito magnets.

We're also looking at Sol Inclination where I'm sure mosquitos won't be as much of a problem because of the wind.

Any insight on either of these villas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

That villa looks beautiful!..We have mostly stayed in that area and the people we travelled with had an issue with the mosquitoes. They didn't bother us at all. Gin, believe it or not, is a great repellant...

Tete Rouge is a great place with killer views. It's high enough up on the hill side, so I don't think mosquitoes are going to be a big problem there. I think the magnets are just for insurance.

I haven't been to the other house, but its in the same area and higher up.

We stayed in a house just slightly above La Tete Rouge and I dont recall mosquitos being an issue. I've always thought it looked like a great house---lots of character----but honestly I've only peered at it from the driveway. Sol Inclination also looks amazing and, of course, its brand new.

Islandguy,

We stayed at Le Tete Rouge back in 2002. I don't remember an issue with skeeters. My daughter was 5 yrs old on that trip and I would remember if she was eaten up! We kept the villa wide open all the time. There are good breezes there. The villa is designed perfectly for us, we like bringing the outdoors in. The huge arched doors are louvered hardwood slats that retract up into the brick work with the flip of a switch. The flow from the great room to the covered porch and the pool area is very nice! If you like to chill at your villa this place is perfect, even has an outdoor pool house with a bathroom. Now that they have improved the lower bedrooms we will put this place back on our short list!!

Take care,
Budman

Thanks everyone!

budman, I haven't been able to locate any pictures of the kitchen in this villa. Most of the villas show fairly modern, roomy kitchens with granite and great appliances. Any comment? Of course the important thing is that it come with a fridge to keep the beer cold and a blender and I'm quite sure it has that :)

We stayed there 3/1/8 theu 3/8/8 there were 4 couples and this Villa was by far the best we have stayed at. There was a constant breeze we did not see a single misquito and I don't remember any magnets (we did not have to look for them). There are killer views at this Villa. The kitchen is OK the ice maker had a tough time keeping up with 8 people driking frozen drinks (no beer drinkers on this trip). There were 3 blenders in the Villa. The layout was perfect for three couples the loft bedroom as in any Villa gets all the noise from the livingroom and kitchen activities so if you will need this make sure whoever uses it knows ahead it will be noisy.

I stayed in this villa in May 2006 with eight women. We loved this villa. It had all the conveniences of home and believe me since I was the planner for a trip with eight women, I made sure it had everything we would need! All three of the bedrooms were great with their own bathrooms. The loft bedroom (4th bedroom) was fine but had no closet or bathroom. All of the bedrooms (including the loft) were air conditioned. The kitchen is not huge and is a galley-style kitchen but with openings at both ends, the flow was good.

We loved the pool and the poolhouse with the bathroom and shower. There were plenty of lounge chairs and pool floats. Also, there was a large gas grill on the patio.

We spent a lot of time on the porch overlooking Ditliff Point and the view was incredible. We did see the mosquito magnets but didn't really have an issue with mosquitoes.

I would highly recommend this house. I am happy to answer additional questions.

We'll be at Sol Inclination in May and I'll be doing a trip report upon our return. All the reports have been wonderful that I've read and due to it being a little windy up there, we are hoping for no mosquitos like everyone says!
