If Jim is at the Colonnade, the Back Bay would be easy for him.
I know that ccasebolt suggested the Summer Shack in Cambridge, but there is also one in the Back Bay. I've never been there - it's close to the Hynes (50 Dalton Street) - anyone know it. There are a few garages in the Back Bay and they take reservations.
Fanueil Hall also is a good place.
Jim - getting around on the "T" is pretty easy.
We're coming from Framingham.

Wow, that's around the corner from the hotel
. The menu looks good and the web site says they take on-line reservations
. They offer $7 parking in the lot next door. Wishwewerethere offered free parking downtow also, but I don't know where that would be. I'd rather be in Cruz Bay than the Back Bay, but that will happen soon enough
.
It certainly would be good for us, but will that work for the rest of you?

I've never been to the SS in Boston, but can certainly vouch for the food based on my experience in Cambridge. I just read this little blurb on their website:
"Back Bay Summer Shack has become the place where rabid Red Sox fans and Boston Symphony patrons rub elbows."
And since I also play the violin (but not in the BSO), it sounds great to me

If you decide to try a place outside of Boston, you may want to consider Castaway's in Bridgewater. It has kind of a Shipwreck Landing feel about it. There's an open air, roof covered dining area, which leads to an outdoor area with sand, tropical plantings, and picnic tables. It's not fine dining, but you won't be disappointed.
I've been to the Back Bay Summer Shack a bunch of times--it's my nephew's favorite restuarant. I really like their fried clams, and these grilled clams on the appetizer menu. Their spicy and greasy calamari recipe is the one I've posted my rendition of on the food porn thread--it's delicious. The raw bar is very good and they usually have some decent fish of the day. John loves their pan roasted lobster also.
You guys are meeting on my actual birthday, so have a drink for me!

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
I think we've agreed on the Summer Shack in the Back Bay at 6pm.
Just PM me when you know for sure as I will be calling for reservations.
