Here's a link to hundreds of Aerial photos of the USVI and PR...for those of you "data nuts" like me.

There are two groups of photos you can select- "1999" and "Historic", then on the map, every blue dots will link you to a table of photos within a distance tolerance (km) of that blue dot.

This will be of limited interest to most people but it is the best source for a "raw collection" of Aerial photos of the USVIs I've ever found...

http://www8.nos.noaa.gov/biogeo_public/ ... earch.aspx

Use at your own risk, blah, blah, results may vary, blah blah, don't ask me what this all means, blah, bl;ah, blah...

Just remove the 8 and the link will work.

Yeah the link works for me as is IF click it then try it again after I get "no page found"....wierd...

Or, you can paste into IE and then press enter...it's a little wierd because it doesn't work directly when I click it in this post but it works just like it is from my IE favorites list...

Some of the pics from 1965 and 1971 are interesting from a historical perspective...

Not as much fun as the rum pouring Gizmo that MargyZ found though!

I was able to get on the website, but can't seem to find the pictures you are talking about! What am I doing wrong? Feeling alittle dense right now...

Try this link: http://www8.nos.noaa.gov/biogeo_public/

then click on "Aerial Image Viewer" link then you should see a map with blue dots that dtermine which sets of photos you access...

There are two groups of photos you can select- "1999" and "Historic", then on the map, every blue dots will link you to a table of photos within a distance tolerance (km) of that blue dot.

Well... I'm really feeling dense now because all I see mapwise is the Hudson River Valley. If you've got the patience to try to help me again, I'd appreciate it because I love pictures of the islands!

Thanks for providing the alternate link Mrsb, this particular link has been a bit elusive...sometimes works sometimes doesn't, I think the link you provided may be more accesible/reliable...

Thank you very much! I'm finally able to see what all you've been seeing. Interesting to see the 1971 maps since I lived there then. Very changed now.
