st thomas lunch
st thomas lunch
We have relatives on a cruise that is stopping in St Thomas on Sat.Jan 26th. We are looking for a restaurant for lunch on St Thomas, we're staying on St John, any suggestions? I have two names from the forum Gladys' Cafe and Cafe Amici, any thoughts? There will be 6-8 people do we need reservations? Thanks in advance.
The Greenhouse is good for casual food (burgers, wraps, etc) and good drinks. It is right on the waterfront in Charlotte Amalie. Not sure if they take reservations.

I would have to vote for Wikkid at Yacht Haven Grande. They also have two other restraunts there, Fat Turle and Cru. I don't think you could go wrong at any of them. We ate a Wikkid for lunch thanksgiving week. Mahi Sandwich and Fish Taco's Deb and I split them yum.
Do you know which dock they are going to be at? It will either be Havensight or Crown Bay. That may make a difference in were you wan to eat and how far they want to travel. If they want to see more of the island then you could have them take a cab to Red Hook and meet you at Molly Malone's its walking distance from the ferry at Red Hook. If you are going to meet them down town then just take the ferry to Charlote Amalia.

I also liked Cuzzins. I had their vegetable provision plate. It was HUGE, definitely could be shared. I remember plantains, fungi, sweet potatoes, some kind of greens, and a bunch of other stuff.
I'm looking forward to trying Wikkid next trip, I've read good things about it.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Thank you for the suggestions. I believe thay are docking at Havensight so I would guess the restaurants in downtown would work. I know they are most interested in shopping, that's why they're not coming over to St John. Also does anyone know if there are taxis from the ships to downtown or will they need to walk? One of the party is physically challenged.

There are tons of cabs available at Havensight. I read a while back that they had moved them around a bit to force people to walk through the shopping area. If they can't get one directly of the boat find someone local working in the area and given the physical limitations they will get them a cab.

Marianne,
Havensight and Yacht Haven are right next to one another, you can walk from one to the other. They're like this: Havensight/Yacht Haven. That close.
We had dinner at Cru and it was very nice. We also had pancakes at Wikkid (I had a pancake jones one morning!) and really enjoyed the food, the service, the view (both of these restaurants are at Yacht Haven, where there's good high-end shopping).
