Hint to other crooks out there. If you're cooking the books, don't keep the second set together with the real set.

It looks like he is going to do two years in Jail as well. My guess would be that we will see a landlord dispute article on On-StJohn before long.

It sounds like the truck is the property in question. With any luck he'll get a suspended sentence. Working off the fines is going to be hellish.

Maybe someone can educate me, but I don't get this. If you are cooking the books, why keep a real set of books? I don't understand why why why anyone would do that.

Back in my college days I worked at a bar with two sets of books.

The owner said he had to keep the real set to make sure the employees weren't ripping him off too much. There was a lot of employees giving away drinks to their friends.

If they put it up for sheriff's sale, who wants to go in on it with me? Let's just buy it so it's still there. I think I'd die if I couldn't have lime and coconuts and tuna down now at least three times a week!

I agree with Rick, I interpreted the article to mean that they are going to seize the truck, not the bar.

Of course, I wonder who will manage it while he is in jail?

I'm not sure what they're seizing, but I don't know how he'll be able to keep anything if he owes them all that money and he has to go to jail for 2 years. I just hope if he does have to sell, whoever buys it will keep it just like it is.

But just in case they don't, I'm ordering my pink tank top next week.

I'm sure the truck will go but the business might go also. The business is an asset and I'm sure a little bit of lien will help pay back some of that money.

This guy is toast and quite frankly, if I thought he was going to be allowed to keep ownership in the business, I'm not sure I'd want to spend a lot of my 'earned' money to pay off his restitution.

If he was cooking the books for the business, he will most likely lose it. I wouldn't particularly want to support a crook anyhow, but I surely don't want to see my favorite establishment on STJ close.

I dont't think so. federal sentencing guidelines are pretty strict. a judge has very little leeway. the pre-senetincing report would likely be done by now, and it looks like the 2 years is where he falls in the guidelines...down from the max of 14 years. for this type of crime, there is not much that the offender can do to mitigate the time he gets. the max reduction that you can get for 'good behavior' is 20%...so about 19 months.
