When I moved back to the states the Animal Care Center lent me a carrier to bring my rescue dog home. It was a large carrier and I tried to get it back to them. I had no luck. The post office could not do it, Fedex and UPS wanted twice as much as the carrier to get it there. I wonder if it was a brand new carrier that might be in a box, you might be able to get it there.

If you can find someone to bring it down as checked luggage, which is no problem and no extra fee, I will pick it up at the airport ANYTIME!

Both the St John and St Thomas rescue needs crates, and here on St Thomas we have been trying to adopt dogs off island but the crate issue is a problem. I bring a dog home with me whenever I can; but, many times we could ship a dog with the new owner meeting it at the airport but we do not have crates available.

Which sadly means many dogs that have a possibility of new homes have to be euthanized just because we didn't have enough crates to get them off island.

So PLEASE let me know where you are and maybe we can try to find someone to lug it along. If they are maxed out on luggage I will pay the additional baggage fee if there is one, and I will meet you at the airport so you will only have to check it on the plane.

Also if you are willing to bring back a crate to the islands please let me know where you live and when you are coming. California, any state in the Northeastern corridor, or anywhere but those areas we have had the most luch of finding homes for dogs.

But if you can let me know about 4-6 months in advance of your trip that will give us enough time to find a home for a animal, get it on a plane, and have you bring it back with you.

Thanks!!!!!

You know..............

A dog crate, would be a great way to get your checked cooler, with food from home, to the Islands, and then the crate and stay on Island. I have one, I might bring the next time I go.

I think that's a great idea, if a couple only checks one bag each, then a third (crate) would not be a big deal.

Something to think about!

Yes and someone could put one of their suitcases inside of the crate, provided its not over the weight limit.

I don't know if the extra baggage fee or the over weight limit is higher. Sure would protect your bag for you though.

I will pay whatever airline fee anyone might incur with getting a crate down here. Within reason of course, usually its only $50 or $80.

I do have a small cat carrier that I could donate, if that is needed. I am in CT and going to STT for sailing lessons in December. If I can be of assistance, let me know. Thanks, Ali~

That would be wonderful, they need all kinds of crate so THANK YOU!!!

Please get in contact with me and I will pick it up at the airport and if you need a ride someplace let me know I'll drop you off, so you'll save a little taxi fare as well. Provided my schedule is open but its sloooow season so should be no worries.

Hi Jan & Mike,

That would be incredibly nice and thoughtful of you. We need carriers of all sizes, the medium, and large ones we need the most of.

I will gladly meet you at the airport to pick it up, or if you want to see the facility let me know and I will pick you up at the airport and bring you by there on the way to the fery dock. Provided you don't have more than 3 people that can fit in my car.

Let me know how to get in touch with you. My email is stuart@usviservices.com
