where is this?

Post by liamsaunt »

So, the other day John and I found the negatives from our first trip to St. John in 2003. I took them to get uploaded on a disk and we've been photoshopping them and stuff. We came across this picture of me and cannot figure out which beach this is? I can't remember any rocky beach with parking next to it other than the Lameshurs and Haulover South, and we did not go to those beaches until 2005.

I am aware that I have an expression of supreme dorkitude in this photo (and my mask is WAY too big. What was I thinking?), but my curiosity is so strong that I am posting anyway! So, where is this beach?

It sure looks like Haulover South to me, over towards the East side looking West/North West. What has me confused is what looks like an antenna sticking out of your head? Is that a telephone pole?

Now, off the Beach Bar (or the closest NoVa equivalent).

Maybe you guys are right. Doesn't the beach look like it has way less vegetation by the road than Haulover South though? I guess the final verification is whether there is a street lamp by the beach--you can see a street lamp in the left of the photo.

I went back and found our journal from the trip to see if it could provide any insight. Nope, according to the journal we pretty much spent our entire vacation at Salt Pond and Francis. I did discover that all during that trip I was calling the island "St. John's."

I'll second Bert's Frank Bay. That cars sitting on the road from CB.

At first I thought Frank but there would be a house behind her and that hill is not right there on the road.

It is definitely not Frank Bay. I went there for the first time this past trip.

I suppose it must be Haulover. I did find a picture of John at the "end of the road" sign so we were out on the East End at some point. We usually set up on the other side of the beach so maybe that is why it does not look familiar. I should have taken better notes, I guess.
