Having been gone from the forum a long time, I now see the ad for the "fish flips" bracelet to wear while snorkleing. My kids (9 and 7) would LOVE those!
Has anyone seen them in any of the shops in St. John? It is too late for me to order now...

I had the fish flips (I left it behind at Gallows, boo). It is not waterproof, just water resistant. You really are not supposed to wear it into the water.
I did not see the flips for sale on island, but if you go to the National Park Vistor Center, they have waterproof smaller versions of Human's reef fish and reef creature books. They are very light and your kids could bring them into the water if they wanted.

We ordered a fish flip off of this site for our last trip. It shipped very quick. Can't speak about on-island availability.
Although purchase for my husband, it ended up being our toddler's favorite toy. It has been in and out of the water as well as being chewed quite often.
The edges of the pictures are showing wear but the hinge (which is really just two wire ties) and the braclet have held up well.
