agreed-- that's very odd. I have seen in contracts where there is an additional fee for a late meet and greet (so the renter knows up front and it is part of the fees) -- and i also know that most greeters do have an additional charge for later parties -- and if it isn't specified in the contract that has always (in my experience) been paid by the owner.

Speaking of odd, I got an email this morning from the villa agency in Coral Bay who we are renting from next June. They have the following as the last sentence in their confirming email:
"Please note: if you arrive on a 7 PM ferry or later there is an additional $80 fee that will be added to your invoice" (The bold face type is their, not mine.)
It is important to note two things. The first is that they are very up-front about the charge. The second is that there is nothing about cash or the dock in their statement. If the same agency collects their fee, I have to question where the money went.
