Less than 5 months till limin in my happy place.
Less than 5 months till limin in my happy place.
Anymore, inbetween visits I actually start to feel homesick for St.John and funny enough it's the small things that linger like the sound of the coquis, the jungle like smell in the mornings after it rains, sitting outside of Deli Grotto sipping coffee while waiting for our beach lunch to be made, being greeted by a herd of donkeys when we park at NPS at night or the moon and twinkeling lights on water and palm trees as we walk Cruz Bay on a balmy evening....
Things I'm looking forward to this trip: sailing a hobie with my dad at Cinnamon, lap of st john, hopefully snorkeling north haulover and yawzi for the first time, possibly the nps reef bay hike.
More firsts for us will be dinner at Lime Inn, having a pool villa and showing my folks around our happy place...
What are your St.John moments?

Sipping kiss of the jumbie coffee while watching the sunrise over Coral Bay. Swimming with the turtles at Maho. Sitting on the log at Drunk Bay and "centering" myself. Those are my big three.

I feel your pain. Went twice a year for over a decade. Looking for our first trip back in 4 years.
It all haunts me.
Favorite things-
Amy in her giddy relaxed state
Blast of heat on the tarmac
Landing on STJ whichever route we take
The smell
Rolling through the hollow as we approach Maho
Painkiller at Woody's
Slowing down
UNPACKING!

Blast of Heat on the tarmac
drinks at the ferry dock
sunsets
hiking a hike we have read about since the last trip to a new place on the island
bushwackers at the Beach Bar with pretty chocolate designs
snorkeling with the turtles day after day after day <---turtle whisper here!
The last several trips we have been staying in the BVI, it pains me when we take the ferry and it stops at St John prior to drop off in Tortola or Jost, to be so close on the ferry but not on the island. Need to get back!

Relaxing in the sun and sand at Maho on our first morning on the island. Lunch at Miss Lucy's (Grouper Reuben). Sitting at the Beach Bar looking out into the harbor.

This is what my husband calls me as well. Love my Maho turtles!ski2play wrote: snorkeling with the turtles day after day after day <---turtle whisper here!
My STJ moments:
- The rush that I get when I see those palm trees and feel the heat when the door of the airplane opens.
- The first sighting of the island on the ferry.
- Our first Painkiller sitting on the back side of the beach bar facing the water.
- Enjoying nature- fish feeding, pelicans, stingrays at 730 am on deserted Maho.
- Riding in the jeep with the windows down on the winding roads.
- Sitting on the deck, feeding sugar to the bannaquits.
- That feeling of being " home " and the relaxed emotional state that it brings.

Yep... I teared up a bit right there.PaminMaine wrote: - That feeling of being " home " and the relaxed emotional state that it brings.
Turtle whisperer here as well. That's why Maho is always our first beach - I'm not really officially on island until I've been swimming with my first turtle.

I feel more and more like I'm home again every time I go. The peace and tranquility that fills my soul for that week cannot be described. Definitely my happy place!
