trying to find an old post about house needs?

I sent you a PM, I have a very nice list of amenities from HomeAway/VRBO that I use to furnish our cabins.

This post couldn't come at a more perfect time. We have been shopping fools. We are bringing 3 containers down next week with stuff for our new house. Thanks for the list - we did forget a few things! :D

We shipped 2 containers with Crowley. They were cheaper than Tropical. Our builder had a guy who took it through customs for us in STT.
It was easy! Almost too easy. They didn't even give me our quote in writing until I asked for it. It was over the phone and they emailed me the paperwork to fill out. The first container had the plumbing fixtures, appliances, ceiling fans etc for the construction part and we also put the patio furniture in that one. The second was the furniture and household goods. We only had 1 broken dish and it was nothing special.
So far, we have had everything we need down there but somehow I still bring more stuff every trip!

Also, based on our location in eastern PA, we had 2 options for shipping: out of Newark area or by rail to Jacksonville then by boat. The JAX option was cheaper.

Seaview is a freight forwarder/consolidator. We ordered lots of things online and had them shipped to Seaview. Then they packed the container, etc. It's not too much of a hassle. When we had our truck shipped down from NJ, now there was a hassle for sure!

Seagrape, I've been wondering about your new place. It's on the same property as Anchorage Aweigh, correct? Will it also be a rental?

I have looked into staying at Anchorage Aweigh many times but it's always booked!

Thanks Teresa Rae - Yes, it's on the same property - so now it will have a shared pool. The new house faces in another direction, so the houses are private from one another. We have lowered the price of AA beginning in August, when the new house will be rented as well. We are doing a new building blog - there's a link on end of our old one. Thanks much!

Hi again, I think the last time I looked at the blog it hadn't been updated for awhile and now I can't get it to open at all...I'd love to see it.

This is the link that won't open:

Here it is - a little different at the end. Our blog is updated only until start of summer 2013. We have more entries to go to get caught up. By now the roof is on and we're heading down to work on electrical next week...thanks for asking!
