Day one - quick pics

Post by michigan girls »

Day one was a Maho day, of course. And why do we go to Maho first? This is why:

And another, lots of turtles at Maho today...

This guy tried to grab my nose when I got too close (the crab, not Andrew)

My parents really enjoyed the beach

The girls enjoy the villa view

I could just sit there and stare at the view forever, love this villa

And of course, a picture of Lewis (all of them are called Lewis by us, goes back to us naming the one that hung out next to the bed on the last trip)

Quick thoughts on Maho - although it was pretty empty when we got there at 8AM, it filled up by noon, not a parking spot to be found. More turtles there today than I could count, which is great for me because I'm all about the turtles. Also a lot more starfish than we saw at Maho last year, and several right up near the shore. There was a small sand shark patrolling the shore all day, that was cool. Didn't make it to the snorkel on the right side, too many people there, but the left was good, a couple barracudas. Tomorrow, either Vie's or Salt Pond, maybe Jumbie... we'll see what we're feeling in the morning!

That IS an amazing view from your Villa. I love the turtles too and spent an hour all by myself with a turtle there in January. On that same day, I saw a little girl about 5 totally lose it over that little sand shark. I wouldn't be surprised if she did not go in the water the rest of the trip.

Wonder if you saw the same (baby) shark that we did. Here's ours: http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/v ... =1&t=23988

Maho is always our "first stop," too. I love it because of the TURTLES as well. They are one of my favorites, for sure.

The view from your villa looks a lot like the view we see in the pictures for the villa we will be staying at.

casalafamiglia - the best place for turtles is over the seagrass, in between the center and the navagational bouys

Minde - We were there from 8AM till about 1PM, just before the trailhead to Drunk Bay - most of the day was spent in the water though, it's all about the snorkeling :-)

It's Satinwood, in Upper Carolina, at the end of the Majestic Mile

Well, heck! We were the other folks there. Set up in the middle of the beach around 8. Saw your troup at the trailhead as we arrived. Hiked over to Blue Cobblestone after snorkeling the right side...

It was all you can eat night, so we didn't have ribs. They served pulled pork, smoked chicken, sausage, brisket, corn on the cob, black eyed peas and coleslaw. We were both full after the initial plate. It was good. Not fantastic, but good. :)
