WiFi Availability on STJ?

We our currently planning our 10th trip to STJ and never before have I considered bringing a laptop. But things have changed and this summer we'll be leaving our toddler at home for the first time so it would be really nice to be able to Skype with her every couple days.

We are considering a few rentals that don't have internet access, so we'd have to go somewhere else to use WiFi.

Is this easier said than done? If it means we'd need to go park our car and sit somewhere in town, we could do that. Since we want to Skype it would be weird to do with a bunch of other people around, watching us yell into the laptop, so going to some place like Deli Grotto wouldn't really be an option.

Does anybody know if WiFi from Computer Express is still available?:

Or any other ideas?

Thanks!

Do you know anyone staying at Cruz Views while you're there. There's wifi in their courtyard, which has seating areas and a pool. You could "visit" your friend...

In the past we have hooked onto wifi in the park right near St. John Spice and the ferry dock. It has been a while since the rentals we use didn't have it, so I'm not sure if there is still free wifi in the park anymore. Now that it is all redone it must be a nice place to sit while online if it does.

Joel's Rum Hut in Cruz Bay has free wifi. Just ask for the password. Works great!

High Tide has free wifi access, I've used it there... It was pretty reliable. You just need to ask them for the password. :)

Years ago, when we stayed at Vistaero, they didn't have WiFi so, we contacted William Culver from Surf Da Web (340-693-9152) and he brought out something that accepted the signal from St. Thomas and a wireless router. It worked well.

Hmm, that sounds like an interesting idea Marcia, do you remember if it was expensive?
