12th Anniversary Trip Report: Part 3

Post by J&M »

We awoke on day five to beautiful sunshine. We decided to hit Francis with all of the supplies. We always enjoy Francis, the water is beautiful, the snorkeling is good, and we had a good breeze. It is so interesting that the character of the beaches can be so different. We had forgotten how deep it the water gets quickly at Francis. The water temperature was a little cooler than we had remembered, perhaps because of all the rain that occurred the week before? Stone skipping was minimal as there are very few stones at Francis. After enjoying most of the day, including our PB&J lunch, we (aka I) thought we needed to drive into Cruz Bay for gas. Since this was our first time staying in Coral Bay, I found myself getting paranoid about running out of gas. Silly, I realize, but I felt better with at least half the tank full.

We grilled steaks with all the fixings at home for dinner. A great meal! I should mention that we frequented Lily’s market (probably daily?). We enjoyed shopping there and found their selection and prices to be good. We bought liquor, wine, beer, vegetable, snacks, really anything and everything, at Lily’s. We also stopped at Love City quite often and I was surprised at how well stocked it was also. They really know how to maximize space!

Day six was not looking promising when we awoke. It was overcast with a strong possibility of rain. One out of six…we’ll take it. We decided it would be fun to head in Cruz Bay (are you getting the idea that we drove into town quite regularly?) and check out some of the villas at which we had stayed previously. We checked them all out and determined we had the best view by far this year! We stopped by the ACC to buy our Wagapalooza t-shirts and make a donation. They do such wonderful work with so little, it is the least we can do. We did not visit with any of the dogs as I would have wanted to take them all home with me. Someday…

Had lunch at High Tide, it was ok, not our favorite meal. But the setting is hard to beat. Time for more exploring. We headed out to Concordia where we took pictures and enjoyed the view. Gorgeous views of Salt Pond and Ram’s Head from there, even on a cloudy day. After some down time at the villa, dinner was at Shipwreck Landing where we each had the Mahi special. Their portions are HUGE and the food and setting excellent as always! Stopped for drinks at Aqua Bistro on the way home which we discovered was the hot spot. Met some cool folks, guests and locals, and had some great drinks. Gotta love the bartenders at Aqua Bistro! Back to the villa and, after an overcast day, a perfectly clear night. Stars galore!
