Watching the Sunset from the Bar at ZoZo's

Post by Bumblebee2 »

We'll be in St. John mid April. I've read several comments where readers mentioned making reservations at the bar at ZoZo's. If you get there early enough can you still find a seat at the bar or are reservations now required?

We were just planning on having a drink or two there before dinner.

Thanks! :)

We enjoyed watching the sunset from up there so much, we cancelled our table reservation and ate in the bar.
The bar shouldn't need a reservation.

The bar does take reservations, so if you go on a night when all the seats are reserved, you are out of luck and will have to sit at the small tables behind the bar.
We like to reserve at the bar. Cocktails at sunset and then the lights of STT for dinner.

Xislandgirl - can you make a reservation just for a drink or two? Is it for a certain amount of time?

They do not take reservations for just drinks. Just dinner.
If you want to have an awesome sunset view, I would grab your beverage of choice and 2 beach chairs and drive past Zozo's to Frank bay beach. Sit there listening to the ocean and watch the sunset.

To add to Xs info - every time we visited Zozo's for sunset drinks (each winter trip), the bar was completely booked. The lounging area is elevated above the bar so the view is still nice and the furniture is comfy.

FYI--I emailed ZoZo's yesterday regarding a reservation at the bar. Going to St John in early June. They indicated you can reserve a spot for a dinner at the bar up to 30 days in advance. Hope this helps!

No worries. Go a bit early. We did and the bar was empty, but the bartender said the bar was reserved for dinner. That pissed us off and we stormed down the steps. The manager was on station at the front of the house and asked us if everything was ok. We explained the bar "house rules". He took us up and seated us at the bar and had a quite word with the bartender. We ordered snacks anyway. And ran into old friends from the way-back machine. Martinis and memories. It was a grand night. 8)
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The bar is not big and the lounging area is small as well, so while it is not all the great for folks that just want drinks, it makes sense from a business perspective.
You can have a couple come to see the sunset and spend $20 bucks on drinks or you can have a couple come for sunset and spend $100+ on dinner.

Definitely recommend the reservations for dinner. We've eaten at Zozos many times, and the nights we reserved at the bar were the best.
