texting

Post by M »

We are coming down in May. As is custom today.......the best way to keep in touch with our son in thru texting. We use AT&T. Has anyone experienced any problems texting to and from USVI? Are there any extra charges?

AT&T is great in the USVI. No extra charges for texting or calling back to the Mainland! Just make sure that you are not picking up a BVI carrier as then you will incur charges. However, if that does happen, most of the time you can call AT&T when you get back and tell then that you were really in the USVI but picked up a BVI signal. They will usually drop the charges.

I text on my iPhone with AT&T all the time. Texting is not a problem at all. Just make sure that you don't bounce off of towers in the BVIs. If you're not on the AT&T network, you'll probably see extra charges.

Just be aware that data usage will cost you- I did get a warning of charges after sending a couple emails from the ferry. Should have know but I was in vacation mode.

I also have ATT and had great service on STJ, it did roam while around the East End, I have an iPhone and just turn the data roaming off to avoid any obscene charges, I assume you can do this with any phone
