First Time Visit to St John, need an upscale villa....

Post by fmzip »

Hi all,

We are planning our first visit to the USVI. We are looking for a villa for two in a modern upscale setting. Nothing too colorful would be ideal!

What we are after is a great view, a deck that gets sun the entire late morning to late day would be nice. Privacy is a plus along with quiet surroundings. We are planning to come in February but would like some input on good off-seasons months to visit.

Some villas we found are:

Peter Bay Gate house lower level (which is available)
Reef Madness, Bongo Bongo, and Coyoba. Price range up to 5-6K for the week. Any others that would suite are needs?

Also, what are some fine dining establishments? where to shop for groceries, where to get a rental and where should we stay in St Thomas for the night we arrive? Any input would be great!

Thanks, Fran

If I had the budget for 2, I'd be looking at something like this....

Heated pool, the best views, not too colorful, but a view like that requires a bit of driving.

This one may be out of budget in the winter season, but is really modern- unique look for St. John. We have stayed here and loved it:

Upscale dining suggestions- Zozo's, the restaurants at Caneel- Equator or the other one- can't remember the name right now- and Asolare.

Good luck in the search and congrats on your first trip- you will LOVE it!

Peter Bay Gatehouse will not be quiet. It sits right at the entrance to the development and very close to North Shore Road. There is a very steep switchback there and the gunning of engines adds to the noise.

We stayed down the hill, one lot back from the beach at Peter Bay and road noise was a constant, I imagine it is worse the closer you get to the road.

Splendore is a very nice house.
