Miss Lucy's full moon party
Miss Lucy's full moon party
I see next Tuesday, April 2 is a full moon , Does Miss Lucy's have a party every full moon? I read something somewhere about a pig roast (I dont know where), but for those of you who have been before , is there always one? We will be staying around coral bay, so will probably stop by anyway, but wondered if anyone could enlighten me in advance.
thanks very much

Your going to get mixed reviews on the Full Moon Party. Go as early as you can, it will be packed and they do run out of food items. Our single worst STJ restaurant experience was the April 2004 Full Moon Party. Maho Bay Campground (with notice weeks ahead) had run a bus load of people over and they were stressed beyond their ability to respond and let that be known. We had a delightful dinner at Shipwreck Landing instead, with full moon rising views.

Rick,
I am a big time lurker, but your opinion means a lot to me, I especially love your new visitors to st john web page , you and many others have been most helpful in planning our first trip next week. A million thanks, that being said, I think I will watch the full moon rise from the peace and quiet of the villa deck in coral bay, rather than from what sounds like total chaos at Miss Lucy's.

Awwww, I am so sorry to hear that about the Full Moon party. It could have been the 20 rum punches between Gromit and I, but we had a great time at Miss Lucy's on our trip in May 05.
Gromit and her hubby got there early and secured us an outside table, it just wouldn't be the same from the inside. The outside tables all filled up but the inside didn't so we may have lucked into a calmer party. No big Maho party bus pulled up and no DBFT Tourbus either
I found the food yummy, but I find most food yummy on STJ cause I am usually so darn hungry from all the sun and activity of the day! The music was a decent little acoustic group (could have just been 1 guy - too many rum punches to remember) doing covers of James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet and the like.
And the highlight of our evening was chatting with Hamilton a local taxi driver who was SO so interesting and nice. He had driven a group out there and was just hanging out until they were ready to go. He was an absolute pleasure to talk to! My trip report from that day is at http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/cgi-bi ... 2005+18092
In conclusion, I think I'd rate it as neither under or overrated. Just a good time!

Good plan. If you have an Eastern facing villa you'll get a great view. If not, try to get a good view for the moon rise. We stopped at an overlook on the way down to Coral Bay and saw the actual moon-rise from there before dinner. The coolest thing, we heard a rustle on the cliff over the ride and looked to see about 50 goats on the hill seated waiting for the moon to come. Devil Goats!!!! with their eyes lit up by the moon.bethgsimm wrote:Rick,

I'll look for the photos.
Thanks for the compliments. It's good to know I'm not just hollerin' into the ether!

The reality of the goat encounter was pretty cool. We were standing there waiting for the sun to come and we heard a little scrabbling. There was still enough light for our eyes to see the goats arrayed up the hill like they were in an amphitheater waiting for the show.
Here's a shot of the girls waiting for the moonrise (no flash, brightened up in Photoshop).

Here's the moonrise over the BVIs. I'd like to catch this from Rams Head sometime.

Ya got it. The Kim Cattrall character - she had a great vocalization in that role. Tawdry? Never! Bawdy, ribald, lascivious, salacious, risqué, licentious, raunchy or randy perhaps!waterguy wrote:I think he was thinking about the porky movie
It's an 80s reference, probably before your time!
