Long time lurker finally breaks out

Post by zamboni27 »

Just wanted to make my first post and thank everyone on this board for all the great help they've unknowingly given my wife and I (those at Mad Fox Saturday night might know me as Dan the Lurker?) with our St John trips!

A little background - My lovely wife Phoebe and I were married on Hawksnest 5 years ago and we fell in love with the island instantly. We've tried to make it a yearly trip since then. We missed one year by foolishly going to Mexico instead - what were we thinking? Our first couple trips were great fun, but not terribly adventurous. We did most of the easy to find beaches and didn't stray too far from Cruz Bay.

Then I stumbled across this forum and discovered a wealth of knowledge about our new favorite place. If not for all of you, we might never have found or tried: Denis/Gibney/Drunk/Leinster bays, the Reef Bay trail hike with the park service, Wag-a-palooza, hook bracelets for Phoebe, Shela's Pot/The G-Spot/Vie's/Miss Lucy's, how to donate to the ACC, the Spicecam, all kinds of villa recommendations, the pottery studio at Maho, and many other things that I just can't seem to remember right now. Love the TGIF pics too! Now, months before we are ready to leave for another trip, I start sending Phoebe all kinds of info about things we should try for our next trip, most of which comes from this forum.

Thank you all so much - without all of your help, we wouldn't consider St. John to be our second home and anxiously look forward to when we can visit again. Our next trip probably isn't until May 2011, but we've already started a list and want to try Brown Bay, Ram's Head Trail, helping to walk dogs with the ACC, and maybe even an off shore excursion.

And thanks to everyone at the Mad Fox too. It was great getting to meet everybody and thank you all for making a lurker and his wife feel very welcome!

Hope to see you all on island!

Welcome, nice to have Dan/Phoebe and Beth Cruz here!! I read a lot more than I post, but the tidbits of helpful information you can pick up on the forum are amazing - I love it...and I have been able to meet some really wonderful people. Dan, again so glad you came to the gathering last week, and thanks again for the beautiful ornament...and NO, I won't be sharing that ornament in the ornament exchange we do!!!
