Waiting for Earl

Post by StJohnRuth »

Earlier today we saw The Pirate Ship of Frank Bay sunset fame sailing across Hart Bay to safety in Hurrucane Hole. You can barely see it in the photo.

This was looking east at the gathering storm clouds beyond Chocolate Hole East and Virgin Grand Estates. That's Earl. He's out there.

In an effort to stave off or at least postpone my traditional Pre-Hurricane Full-On Anxiety Attack, I am thinking that maybe it's a good thing to get the Hurricane Test out of the way immediately on a brand new house. That way you don't have to wonder about it.

I'll let you all know how that works out. Thanks for all the good wishes.
Everyone in the path of Earl, stay safe.

I have an uncle who's name happened to be Earl...he was affectionately known as Uncle Buddy...may he be looking down upon all of you, keeping you in his hugely benevolent arms... be safe and take care.

Ruth - Knowing how much care and work Ron and you put into your new house, I am certain it will survive Earl. Take care and stay safe. We are thinking of you.

Based on the construction Ron described to me and what I saw, the Shed should be safe. But, I would be interested in seeing what the pool is like after all the rain you should get.

Stay safe.

it's been awhile since I had a chance to read much less reply to anything on this forum. Hadn't realized you'd built a house in the interim, Ruth! FAST for island time or else I've been away a LOT longer than I though!!

Anyway, as soon as I heard about Earl, I've been glued to my computer watching the weather sites and all related forums. We're due to come down there towards the end of September--sure hope our villa we're staying at makes it through ok!

BUT mostly hope that all the lovely people I've been privileged to meet & get to know a bit on what I think is one of the most special places on this earth, come through all this safe and sound.

I am definitely PRAYING for everyone & everything on St. John. You've heard the phrase "praying up a storm?" Wel, I'm not doing that, instead I'm "praying DOWN AND AWAY a storm"
