Live trip report - no pics

Post by BeAsUR »

Today is day 3 of our stay and day 2 of rain. I think I have figured the pattern - sunny in the morning- but to early for us to be at the beach, then the rain moves in around 2:30. We seem to have a pattern- get up around 8:30 and have coffee and bagels at the villa and then try and get the 19 and 17 year olds up and functioning and out the door by 11. Snorkel before it rains and then lunch seems to come at 3(definitely on island time), villa gravity and happy hour until 7 and then out to dinner by 8-8:30. Day i lunch was at Skinny's after getting groceries and getting settled. ( coconut swirl and painkiller with pepperjack cheeseburger) Day 2 lunch at Shipwreck Landing after snorkeling Francis.( Lime n coconut and BBQ chicken sandwich)Today, Day 3 snorkeled Cinnamon in the rain and then to the Beach Bar.(Nachos and Painkiller) More to come.....

The thing that saves this trip despite this grayness is our villa , Bongo Bongo. AMAZING place!! Because of the weather, we are spending a lot of time at the villa. We have basically lived outdoors for 3 days now. The only "inside" is our bedrooms, but everything else is open air and b/c it is not so hot, we have just been out on the huge veranda enjoying the view and the luxury of this villa. So rain, rain go away-but if you don't here we'll stay...and still be in paradise!

It's funny you say that regarding spending more time at the villa, due to the weather. My thoughts for our November trip were that we had to make sure we'd like the villa, rain or shine! We haven't been during rainy times yet, and I'm afraid we might experience more rain in November. It sounds like you all are making the best of it!!

be, what a trooper. 1st the missed connection, then the rain. fortunately the volcano down island appears calm for the moment. the rain soon end but if not you are a high enough elevation to be above the flood!

only trip out of 12 when we had rain to impact our visit was when we brought the grandkids, oct 05 and it rained, heavy rain for 2.5 days, probably 10+ inches. still all had a great time.

couple of bongo questions. we are considering her for aug trip. 1. how distracting is view over pond bay? 2. IF the sun comes out, will the villa be too hot to use great room/kitchen shortly after/during sunset?

bongo has all we've ever wanted in villa, basicly 1 level with 2 kings on opposite ends, and drop dead western views. allesandra is another but she's never vacant when we need her. followed the bongo blog religously, then wham, pond bay construction out the west view. i'm had a couple of pm's from pass visitors saying pond bay is insignificant in thescope of the panoramic view from the deck. tell me it's true.

hey fellow Texan. We were at Cinnamon today too. We left about 12:30 when the first showers started. Cafe Roma tonight for dinner and WOW we really enjoyed it. Kids have already set our dinner menu for the next three nights. We may try Trunk tomorrow.
