Dodge Nitro?

I am noticing that a bunch of the rental companies are now offering this car. I am wondering if anyone has rented one, and if so what they thought of how it drove. I am thinking of getting something larger than a 2-door wrangler. I have rented the Jeep Liberty and didn't like that car at all.

Thanks!

we had it on our trip in 2009 when we were party of 5. we also had the wrangler but took the larger car when everyone was going to the same place.
I always sat in front as passenger or driver and it seemed fine to me. roomy.
but overall for 2 of us it felt too large for driving around island.

ps - I hate the Wrangler and wanted the Liberty but STJ Car rental was out of them and gave us the Nitro. Why don't you like the Liberty?

The SOTB group had rented the Nitros before. I prefer the 4 door jeep wranglers, well, because my car at home is a wrangler. However, I find the Nitro to be roomy, comfortable and an excellent choice and for whatever reason, I'm not a fan of the jeep liberty's either. I think all the drivers in the group were very pleased with the Nitro. Ali~

We had a Nitro two trips ago and it was fine. My husband thought it was ok. For reference, he drives a Tahoe at home so any car on STJ is a BIG change for him.

Yes, we had one this past April for 8 days...Picked up from Thrifty near the Airport and 10 percent discount if you paid with American Express. Total with taxes came to $478 for the entire stay. We had a party of five and we really enjoyed it. This is the first time we ever rented an SUV in 10 years. Also the very first time we ever had to gas up on STJ. Hmmm, we'll be going back to our compact cars I'm sure! LOL, it was a great ride though. :D

We've had a Nitro on our last two trips. I loved them, tons of room and drove great. However, my husband and dad both didn't like getting in and out of the driver's seat because they kept hitting their heads. They are both over 6 foot.

MaryBeth, I don't like the Liberty because of the way it drives. It revs in place and then lunges forward rather than having a smooth acceleration.

I found a four-door wrangler available, so rented that instead. Thanks!
