For when the forum irritates you

Post by pipanale »

Should you find yourself composing one of those "That's it, I'm never coming back here ever again because someone disagreed with me on (Check one of the following:Religion, Politics, Car Transmissions, Politics, Politics or Politics)" posts, please do the following first.

Read this thread:

Then read this one:

Funny thing about a family (And, this is a family) is that you don't always have to get along. You can scream at each other, pout, and refuse to send birthday presents to kids. But in the end, when one of yours is hurting, you rally together.

What touched me the most this week was the outpouring of support for the B family. That it came from a relative group of strangers made it more special. It's not often that you get to meet people who you interact with via this medium. So, the relationships you build on line are as real as those you have built in person.

As always, I don't have much of a point, but there's no reason to go sit in the corner just because someone disagreed with you or called you a jerk. Because, the group...the family...here showed this week how we can all rally together when needed. And that's worth more than some stupid disagreement.

I'll get off my soap box now and go about my day.

Thanks for that post. I used to be a regular, now I just lurk. It seemed that everytime I posted, some certain people always had something really negative to say (more than just a little disagreement, but disrespect). It was only a very few, but with other stuff going on in my life I didn't need to be attacked on this great board. So I retreated, posting only a few times here and there......but after seeing these posts, and tributes, as well as your post, I will swallow my pride and accept that others may hate everything I do or say. Life is too short to hold grudges.....

Thanks again pipanle! 8)

good post, Pip and so true. I never wanted to compose one of those notes, thankfully. I try to take what I enjoy from here and pass over what I don't and leave a little behind where I can.

now I'm off to read the Sangria thread as I want to make some tomorrow.

have a good weekend! cheers!

Pip- What you said- ditto. Hope you've enlightened someone today. We all need a bit of enlightening sometimes. And beer.

You could have just sent me a message on FB and not assumed I would be lurking

I get it, loud and clear. I know that I am not everyone's favorite but I love the island and I love the people that I have met through the forum and those I have not.

So I have packed up all the toys I took when I left and I am heading back to the fold, I will share, I promise.

Thanks Rob.

Now, how do I get a ticker?

Great post Rob.

My husband is quite impressed with the relationships I've developed with my "imaginary" friends. He knew those weren't imaginary tears this week.

Hmmm - can we invite Jorge back?

Thanks Pip.

And while we're feeling all warm and fuzzy, let us also try to treat each other with respect, even if we're not ill or in desperate straits. It should not take an awful situation for us to behave like adults.

I always remind myself that I might just meet some of you in person someday, so I better not be a complete weenie.

Peace!

Lovermont

ps - welcome back X

WRONG! I dance in a coconut bra. I run like a frightened little girl from midgets!

It sounds like I need to do a little more self-promotion. Apparently my insufferable "look at me" attitude has not registered with you.

If you're going to pit your self promotion against my fading memory, you have an uphill battle on your hands...
