Baseball - are you flying out of Atlanta? Which flight? Mine still shows, the 10am departure, but I am 34 days out.

Fair warning to all: periodically check your reservation. For some reason the airlines (particularly Delta and AA) are constantly F#%$ing with the schedules and will change departure times, flight #'s and even the DAYS of your departure WITHOUT TELLING YOU.

Even if you're sign up for "notification" or alerts- these SUCK and you have to check yourself.

One big problem, especially for families traveling together (and esp with small children), is that Delta will change planes frequently and you basically lose your seat reservations on the plane and you have to go on line or call them to get the seat assignments back so you can sit together.

If you aren't vigilant about this and check back frequently you can find that you and your three year old are sitting across the plane from one another and you have to argue with someone to give up their seat so you can sit with your kid.

Check your ressies!

Thats is when you place the activity bag, the bag of snacks, leapster (w/o headphones), a box of tissues "because he gets airsick" and whatever other kid crap you have on the person's lap and say "here, this should keep him occupied. I am going to take another Xanax and sleep through the flight, thanks for looking after him." :)

In all seriousness, our son sitting by himself would be a huge problem for everyone involved.

Just noticed they changed my return flight in December, moved it up by hour and a half.

Yessir, I posted about this problem a month or so back, too. I've been checking about every 2 days, and so far so good since those last round of changes. What Gromit said about the seating is exactly what happened to us...though my kids aren't 3 years old, they wouldn't have been happy about sitting alone and their mother would have been even more upset!

Hmmm...it's been a couple of days since I checked. Time to look again!

That is just a no win situation and I hate that the airline companies do this. As many know, connecting flights are often tight and any change could throw everything off...

Remember when they would actually pick up a phone and call you to notify you of a change and then ask if the change was ok or would you like to look for another flight?...Ahhhh those were the days!

More or less did that once on Southwest in 2004. We had never flown them before and didn't know the game. We had the then 4 year old with us...and her carseat to sit in. Some dude would not move across the aisle to give us 3 seats together.
"Sir...do you really want to sit next to the 4 year old who may or may not get airsick? Because, I'd be happy to go across the aisle and let you sit with them."

He moved.

People can suck sometimes.

Delta has moved my flights 482 times in the past year since we booked them. I think I now have a 14 day layover in ATL

Seriously, who in their right mind would want to sit next to a strange little kid? I have heard similar stories.

In all fairness, some people want specific seats and if it means giving up an aisle seat for a middle they may not be so accomodating.

I know that I am very particular about where I sit and go to the extra effort ahead of time to ensure that I get the seat that I want (I get crazy claustrohobic and can't stand the window or middle. I need an aisle seat or I get really uncomfortable).

It's one thing if you are trading equal seats but that's not always the case.

Honestly, I would rather sit next to strange kid who's going all Exorcist on me (head spinning and projectile vomiting) than a middle seat or window if push came to shove. That's how uncomfortable I am in the window or middle.

So I can see both sides.
