Olympus 770 SW Underwater Digital Camera
Olympus 770 SW Underwater Digital Camera
My new Olympus 770 SW arrived yesterday.
This is the latest version of the 720 SW and has an increased depth rating to 33 ft. Heading to STJ on Tuesday to give it an above and under-water workout. Will report on performance when I get back.

Cool. New toys are good. No doubt the 10 ft depth limit on the older 720 made some folks nervous.
Can the 770 shoot video files? If so, get yourself a nice big memory card and try that underwater too.

I'm glad I held out on the 720 SW. I'm anxious to hear your report. My main concern about this camera is taking pictures on the beach (bright conditions) and trying to look at your subject through the LCD. The 770 SW is supposed to have an enhanced HyperCrystal LCD to help view in direct sunlight. I'm not concerned about the underwater capabilities as waterguy assured us of that already. Please don't forget to post your review and have a great trip!
Wes - I am back and am working on a report - here are some teaser photos

Steve, bad news.....you are using a site that requires a membership, and we are not members. We cannot see the pix......can you post them from your hard drive? I have a web site that will allow you to do that, if you need it.
Thanks, and am awaiting the results of the 770 with bated breath!

The liver is evil, it must be punished!

Steve - looks like you got some nice shots. Note that the colors in some of the underwater shots that look very blue like the flounder shot can be easily corrected/restored, often with just the one click auto correct option that every photo edit program seems to have.
To show you what I mean, I copied the flounder shot (hope you dont mind - will delete after you reply to this) and with one click and a little cropping did this:

So before you go much further in your editing efforts, consider whether you like the effect or not.
I know that in some of my underwater shots, it was a real revelation as to what was actually in the frame after I hit that button.
