Feeling sorry for my friend
My co-worker and her hubby are on STJ right now. I feel so sorry for them, stuck on some dinky little Caribbean island. They are missing all the fun here.
He has to worry about 8 Tuff Miles... me, I'm getting toned each morning with my "shovel workout." She has to shave her legs and wear sunscreen. Not me! I'm covered with long underwear, snow pants and ski socks. She might trip and get a bruise hiking to Ram Head. If I fall on the ice, I'm protected by my big down jacket. I bet all those sun streaks and salt water will dry out her hair. My dark roots are cozy and covered under my ski hat. They have to hear all those tree frogs and jungle sounds at night. Me, I am woken by the mellifluous melody of the snow plow, grinding up the street at 4:30 a.m.
I was thinking of them when I shoveled on Monday... and twice on Tuesday... and yesterday... and 6 more inches again today. Yeah, my heart is breaking for them.

I am SO glad I am not down there this week. Much prefer the 2.5 hours of dental work I had done on Monday, the pain still lingers. Followed my days of heavy rain and water in the basement and now big chunky snow flakes falling from the sky.
Man I hope I'm in the mood for that little island in 46 days

It's my favorite New England weather right now. 38 degrees and pouring rain sideways. I'd never leave this time of year.

Yep! Feeling sorry for them....
So your friends (and some forum folks too) had blinding bright sunshine today...
well, so did I;
but I'm still so glad to be at home in Florida... not on that little island in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by water, so far from the routine, all those daily busy moments, very early alarms, demanding phones... because of island time, guess they had to take it slow today, linger a bit, savor a little longer....
It is currently a sweltering 81 degrees there; it is a refreshingly crisp 43 here now heading for a tingling chill of 25 tonight, while they bottom out around a still warmish 75... faces shining with the humidity.
So the moon is approaching fullness there - here too.
Guess they'll have some really difficult decisions to think about - as to when, where, and what to eat for the full moon party; I have little to decide since the entire household has been visited by a norovirus this week...
They may be sitting beside a pool having a cooler; I'll be getting much cooler running out to turn on the pool pump so the pipes won't freeze tonight. And in all directions all they'll see are swaying palms and blooming flowers - so common, while here, our freeze-cloth-covered grapefruit tree with the heat lamp brings such a different and unusual glow to our backyard.
Yep! They all surely have my sympathy tonight....

... no longer a stranger to paradise
