Body Scrubs
I'm looking for some ideas to make a homemade body scrub.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I have not made a body scrub before, but I may try this one:
Ingredients for Brown Sugar Scrub
* 1 Cup Brown Sugar
* 1/2 Cup Sweetened Almond Oil
* 1 tsp Vitamin E (Cut open a couple Vitamin E liquid gel caps)
* 1/2-1 tsp Vanilla Extract
from: http://www.spaplayground.com/spa-intoxi ... ecipe.aspx
I have seen some similar recipes with 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup vegetable oil plus vitamin E and essential oil.
I do make a bath salts mixture:
2 cups Epsom salts
1/2 cup soda
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup dry milk
120 drops lavendar essential oil
Mix and use 1/4 cup or more - depending on amount of water in bath... no tub ring

Lprof, I like your bathsalt mixture with the soda, cornstarch and dry milk.
Yes, I googled and got lots of ideas but thought perhaps someone here had one they were fond of.
Lprof, I'm looking forward to trying your mixture. I have a comment on the lavender drops: 120 drops? That seems like an awful lot. I was under the impression that 2-3 drops is all you should use when it comes to essential oils.
I've made a basic one with 1 C. epsom salts, a few teaspoons of massage oil and then 3 drops of peppermint essential oil. It was pretty decent.

My bathsalts recipe came from a now closed, but long running and successful, herb farm in middle Virginia, "Buffalo Springs Herb Farm".
The 120 drops of essential oil is mixed in 3 1/2 cups of powders... that would be something like 8 1/2 drops for 1/4 cup of "salts". I have had no concerns with using this amount (or a bit more) in my mix - which is for my personal use only. As my soaking tub is large (infrequent water hog who fills it to soak) I often throw in more than the 1/4 cup of the mixture. I usually follow the idea of all in moderaton.
I generally use either "AuraCacia organics" oil or lavender oil from http://www.katybugs.com Katy has a wonderful muscle relaxer massage oil that I can recommend. (Katybugs was previously an Urbanna VA based business - now in Santa Fe NM - I believe.)
If I should try the brown sugar scrub, I'll let you know how I like it. I am sensitive to many chemicals and try to keep things as simple as possible.
I have noticed that "deleting my ticker"... sorry to see that... hope that you'll soon have a new one!

lprof, thanks for the clarification on the amount of essential oil.
Yes, trip is postponed as I decided to re-educate myself and go back to school (masssage therapy school)(at 46 yrs of age). I hope/plan to get back to the Islands a year from now.
Again, I'll let you know when I try the bathsalts. It sounds very relaxing.
