BIG waves at San Clemente

Post by California Girl »

I can't take credit for this picture. It was sent to me by a surfer in San Clemente.

San Clemente Pier at 11:30 a.m. today (1/21/10)

Wow! Been there a lot and never scene anything like this. Do folks really surf in that type of condition? Yikes!

Not if they're smart! Most of the beaches are basically closed or have warnings not to go into the water. The surfer who took this picture sure wasn't surfing! Those waves are averaging 15 to 20 feet, but they're not like the big surfing waves you see in Hawaii...it's rough and dangerous out there!

No, you wait for it to clean up then surf until your arms fall off!
