ATTN: Gromit and Vicki

Post by siestalola »

Ladies, I just wanted to let you both know that I stumbled upon both of your trip reports on another site, and I enjoyed reading them SO much.

Here's the thing, my friends have been begging me for over 20 years to sail the BVI's with them. Every year I disappoint my husband by saying no to their offer. You see, I am a big fat chicken! Well anyway about six months ago I finally said yes to a sailing trip. Needles to say I have been p**ping my pants every since. I am so scared of everything that could go wrong its ridiculous. What I really want you both to know is that reading your trip reports has changed me so much I can't believe it. I am so looking forward to this sailing trip now I can't wait to get there.

Its sounds crazy I know, but for some strange reason your reports have given me peace, maybe because you guys didn't know what to expect either, plus on top of that you were all pretty much strangers. Now that takes balls!

We begin our sailing adventure in Road Town on January 23 on a 52' monohull with 6 of our closest friends.

Again, thanks for sharing your sailing adventure with me, if you happen to be back sailing at the same time as me...I will be the one wearing a life jacket. lol

All the best!

If you feel more comfortable wearing the PFD by all means do so, you might want to consider an inflatable type. They are low profle and comfortable if you plan on wearing one all the time. http://www.euphoriasailing.com/Images/e ... it150N.jpg
Just an example of what Im talking about. But check with the airlines about bringing on board or checking because they contain C02 cannisters to inflate. You may want to speak with the charter company to see if they have a source to get one on island.

Enjoy!!!!

@Siestalola-- So sweet of you to say that!

I always write these TR's for myself but it's nice to know that it has helped someone out.

What other site did you see the TR's on? Just curious.

If you're on a 52' monohull you shouod DEFINITELY have a LOT more room!! I noticed a HUGE difference in the 49 vs the 45 we were on so you should be good!

Let us know how it goes!
*Another fine scatterbrained production

I think it was Travellerspoint but I can't be sure as I've been surfing non stop for almost a week now.

Its about -7 degrees celcius here today so the sailing trip is really starting to become inviting.

Nine more sleeps! Yahoo

Thanks girls, you're both so funny and honest..loved the pictures too.

Where I saw the trip reports

Gromit/Vicki,
I first picked up Vicki's report on the BVI TravelTalk Forum. I ended up reading Vicki's prior St. John reports when I somehow linked to her travel blog. Then read yours over here on this board. All of them were great and although we go every year, they've got my fire renewed. We do land based though and typically take in St. John and Jost. Leaving this Saturday and am about to call Paradise car rental for a car one day next week. I laughed OUT LOUD at Vicki's recreation of the conversation she had when she called to rent from them. It reminded me of the first time that I ever called Penn's on St. John. When I hung up, I wasn't convinced that I had a car rented, but it all worked out great.
