Put Your VI Quarters In A Jar
Here we are sitting in our favorite watering hole up here in the frigid northeast. It is a typical Saturday afternoon watching the playoff game and having some good ole chat with friends of ours. I ask our favorite Bartender for four quarters so we can play the trivia game. Hey, look at what we have here, two U.S. Virgin Island quarters. I have been dying to get a hold of one of these and always promised myself I would keep the first one I get. I usually don’t break promises I make. Then something hit me out of nowhere. I knew I was probably going to break that promise. I put the quarters in my pocket, looked at my wife and said “I think I have a great idea.” I told her my idea and she says “wow honey, you floor me sometimes. That is an awesome idea so let’s do it.” So here go and I am purposely going to break that promise I made to myself by keeping the first U.S. Virgin Island quarter I get.
This is where you all fit in this idea. I don’t know if you all want to give it a try but I am starting today. It is a task that will run through 2010. I don’t know how well it will work but it is worth the try. Are you up for it? Let me know what you think and if you want to participate send out a shout!
TASK: To raise money during 2010 and donate to a good cause on St. John. The cause is undetermined and will depend on the census of the people whom participate in this task.
Here is how it works.
1.)Make a St. John donation jar.
2.)When you receive change from a purchase check for U.S. Virgin Island quarters.
3.)Keep those quarters and place them in your St. John donation jar.
4.)At the end of 2010 we will all count our quarters.
5.)It will be your choice to match your amount quarter for quarter.
6.)We will vote on the cause to donate the money to and send in our donations.
It may not raise a ton, but a little can go a long way. We can make it fun every month and report how much we got at the end of each month to see how we are doing. What are your thoughts?
Maybe Anthony can keep this topic at the top of the forum so it can easily be accessed?
I just dropped my first two quarters in the jar. Will you?
