Sanibel Island restaurants

Post by AquaGirl »

Greetings! My hubby and I are going to Sanibel Island for a few days in early Jan because he has a business trip in Ft Meyers. We went to Sanibel many times in the 90s, but then discovered the Caribbean so we haven't been in a while. (Except I was there on a one day trip a few years ago.) While its not the same as a trip to STJ, I am so happy to go somewhere warmer than here in the D.C. area.

I was perusing info on restaurants on Sanibel and was surprised to read so many reviews saying the restaurants were mostly mediocre and over-priced. Does anyone have any recommendations from recent visits to Sanibel? We will eat seafood while we are there.

We are staying at Sanibel Harbour Resort - right near the causeway over to Sanibel, because that's where my hubby's business event will be. I welcome any restaurant recommendations near there too.

Thanks!

It's been a few years, but we always enjoyed the Lazy Flamingo for lunch. As a huge Randy Wayne White fan, I enjoyed Doc Ford's on Rabbit Road. Lazy Flamingo is probably more pub than restaurant, but if you like pub grub, it's great. Mucky Duck on Captiva also very fun. The Green Flash on Captiva is very nice, and a great location.

If you're interested in local art and wildlife, the gallery Jungle Drums on Captiva is a must.

Have a great time. Oh, and have breakfast at the place by the lighthouse. LOL, that doesn't help, does it. I think Lighthouse is in the name. Maybe you already know of it. (My husband just told me it's The Lighthouse Cafe.)
