Trip Report-sorry, no pix yet

Post by mahojim »

Me and My Sweet Amy stayed at Sago Palms Villa with another couple this past 11/07-11/14.
Let me start by saying that the villa was absolutely DELICIOUS.
We arrived on STT, grabbed our bags, and were escorted via Dependable to their office to polish off the paper work. We then took our turn driving to the car barge at Redhook, and enjoyed jumping out ot the car, and plopped our butts down upstairs on the way over to STJ.
The barge (Roanoke), wasn't getting much business-like the rest of the fleet of car ferries-, so they weren't serving drinks "up top" like they usually do, but we enjoyed the open air rather than sitting in our Jeep like so many folks seem to do.- :?:
We landed at Enighed, and were greeted by very important & lovely people.-
Mary Phyllis ( from PHPV), as well as Mat Vacharat (from MATHAYOM)-Philly boy...
Mat is an unbelievably good soul of a man.Lovely family. I brought him down some venison, Philly soft pretzels, scrapple, as well as other goodies from his home town that we share.
Land on the dock,-LOVE,LOVE,LOVE! Mucho smiles & hugs!
In turn he supplied us with a few goodies for the villa, as well.
We follow Mary to the villa,(WONDERFUL WOMAN, by the way), and we're introduced to the mile long driveway to Sago Palms Villa.
Folks, I've got to say that this home was probably the closest place to heaven on STJ compared to some of the other places that I've stayed at on STJ.
The only other place that is in contention was "Lyon's Pride", now called "Long View".
Mary invited us in, showed us the place,we shared a beer with one of her employees, she gave us the keys, then the place was ours!
~Quick note; Seeing her smiling face at the ferry dock was just another wonderful welcome to our vacation this year. Lovely woman; she seemed relieved to, once again, give us comfort as well as welcome us to yet another gorgeous home.~
Needless to say, the place was deelish. There is a sign at the drop on the driveway that says "No road available," or something like that. We all unpacked-(which is secret code for "having sex")-(at least it was for me & Amy)-
and then we actually unpacked, and stuffed the fridge with our bbq goodies.
While our cohorts were "unpacking", I decided to check out the rest of the home, the 3rd bedroom. It was equally coupled with yet another Roman Styled Orgy styled shower. -These bathrooms were huge. Lots of space. Strange, and wonderful...
So, I meandered out while enjoying the view, and nonchallantly reached back to slide the door closed , and almost grabbed a spider(tarantula?) that was literally the size of my hand.
Without hesitation, I yelled "AMY!!!" You gotta' see this! BOB, GET DOWN HERE!"
Amy, Jen & Bob came down worriedly, and saw this creature,-huge.
First time in 10 years that I've seen something like this. Big furry spider.
Bob & I retroactively raced back up the stairs, singing (as in JAWS)-"Show me the way to go home,I'm tired & I wanna' go to bed!", and kept singing faster & faster, as in the movie...
Laughs were everywhere, holy moly...
More to come.
Hope I'm not boring you with the play by play, and My Sweet Amy will post a few pics at some point.
Signing off for now-
Can't wait to til you hear about me & Bobbys' hike!!!
Smiles-
MJ

Mahojim,

I am so glad you loved Sago Palms. You can get lost in that shower.I am always worried when you tell someone about a villa that they will not love it as much as I do.This year will be our 3rd year at Sago.
Was your hike down the road towards Hawksnest villa?
That is an interesting walk.
Can't wait to hear more.
Smiles to you!

I've been eagerly awaiting your review of Sago Palms.

It is definitely at the top of my list for a future trip. Unfortunately it's never available so we keep staying other places. One of these years though!
Let us live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.

Sounds great so far! Did you get a photo of the spider?

SCRAPPLE!?!?!?

That is one PA food I never learned to like.

We take food down to my in-laws in FL and have been questioned on occasion by security "what is this?"

Sago Palms sounds great, I gotta check it out.
