We used cyberrentals four years ago to find a condo for a very last minute trip to Amelia Island. As time was short we ended up making some of the arrangements by phone, but the property was great and all went according to plan. I just checked and the property is currently listed by cyberrentals. My impression is that VRBO and cyberrentals are very similar vacation rental websites.

Enjoy Nantucket!

vrbo ( Vacation Rentals By Owner) and homeaway and cyberental are all the same owner /company.

They are all platforms for owners to rent their vacations homes. So your results will somewhat depend on the home you select. It is a marketing organization for owners vs a travel / rental agency

I have use them to rent home in Fla and the SC beaches. Some house were great others not so great.

We use them to rent our villa on St John " Into The Mystic" , They have been great.

There is a big plus to the homeaway / virbo companies

they offer two guarantee programs for rental problems. One is free and one that cover all sorts of this is $59. See at

I have used them a couple of times. The house I just posted a picture of in the summer vacation thread was rented through them. I have also rented homes in Florida through them. I have always had a good experience. I do talk with the owner before committing.

On Nantucket, you might want to check on location of the house to fields (you may or may not know that there are BIG mouse problems on Nantucket...I have relatives that live on the island).
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

We use Cyberrentals to list our Nantucket home. We also list our home with multiple realtors on the island, the realtors charge the homeowner a percentage to carry your property, 15%.
Our rental rate on Cyber is minus the 15%. I know on STJ it doesn't appear that villa rental rates on Cyber or VRBO are less than the management companies
rates most of the time.
VRBO and Cyber and Homeaway are the same company but charge separately to list your home.
We speak personally with each potential rentor and can answer specific questions.
Most islands have rodent issues, we are rodent free at the moment (that I know of!!)
Feel free to PM me with any questions about Nantucket. Laurie

Thanks, Laurie.. I actually spoke with the owner today. She was wonderful. AND a physician on staff at the hospital there, which was great for us, because our daughter's got some medical issues and will be on some IV meds while there, and while you are on an island, period, you always feel a bit vulnerable. This woman was so full of helpful info.

Also, I was impressed that I got an email with all kinds of guarantees and insurances, etc., from the homeway.com site.

Seems great. Thanks.
