Bosch kitchen appliances anyone ?

Post by Pia »

Hi everyone

Looks like the kitchen remodel might be underway... wooo hooo :) I am looking at Bosch kitchen appliances online and was wondering if anyone has any feedback on any that they might have in their kitchen. I will go look at them in Kansas City when I am there but so far the size and look (at least in print) appears to be something I am interested in.

Thanks everyone...............dishwasher soon come :)

Pia,
We have a Bosch dishwasher and love it! Very quiet and I chose it because it has a "china" cycle. (I know, not something most people care about). What is most impressive is that there was a defective part and Bosch did a voluntary recall. They came out and fixed it for free, remarkable since it was 7 years old. I like Bosch's business ethics, which is quite a statement in these times!

Pia - We have a Bosch dishwasher, gas oven & cooktop and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! The dishwasher is as close to silent as you could possibly get, a major issue for us, since our dishwasher is pretty close to our living room & I like the fact that the heating element isn't exposed. The stove & oven cook amazingly well, but at first the oven didn't work so well. Bosch sent someone out who figured out the problem and it's been fine ever since.

My BIL has Bosch appliances in his loft. His place is very modern and sleek, and I love the look of his appliances. He's had no issues with any of them and it's been quite a few years.

Thanks guy's :)

I wonder if Bosch would send out someone to repair any defects/problems that we might have once installed here on STJ

We have Bosch dishwasher and gas range/stove and LOVE them! The dishwasher is very quiet, can hardly tell it's running from 10 feet away. It has a stainless steel tub on it, so there is no "drying" cycle - the heat from the water is held so well in the stainless tub that it dries the dishes. It does work better for plastic (which we have a lot of with little ones) to prop open the door a few inches at the end of the cycle. The range/stove is great, easy to clean. We had a problem with one of the convection elements so that it didn't heat properly when in convection mode, and they came out to fix it for free. Oven probably runs a little hot, shiny black grates on top are easy to clean as is the brushed stainless surface beneath them, BTU output of the burners is sufficient for everything I've ever tried to cook.

have you looked at kitchen aid ? When we purchased a new diswasher we chose the kitchen aid over the bosch because the kitchen aid had a larger interior. My boss has bosch and likes it, but when visiting his cabin and using that diswasher, I prefer the kitchen aid.

Congrats on the remodel, sounds like fun. :D

About 5 years ago we bought a Bosch gas range/oven that I really liked. We have since passed it on to my sister in law and it is working great for her too.

I had been looking at Bosch dishwashers, but the appliance store folks steered me toward a different brand (KitchenAid, at that point) because the lower pull out rack was roomier (the utensil rack was positioned better.) At that time we were fitting the dw into an existing space, and the Bosch, being a European brand and sized in metric units, was just a fraction smaller than the American brands; we would have had to add a filler to close the gap. I was disappointed because I had read great reviews about the Bosch dw. I did also notice that the Bosch range was sized slightly different than our former range, because the counter tops didn't come to the same point. So I'd recommend taking a peek at the install guide for the exact measurements if you're fitting into existing cabinets.

When we remodeled the kitchen last year I swapped it all out anyway and went with the Jenn Air professional line, which has been working great. (This was based on reviews, advice from a kitchen designer, and finally looks.) First recommendation I got was for Gaggenau; loved the looks but nicknamed it 'Gag me now' because of the price.

I had a Bosch dishwasher in my old house and LOVED it - so quiet. Then we bought a 3 year old house that has a Kitchen Aid in it. It's okay but I can't wait for it to die so I can get another Bosch. Love the Bosch! In our new house we bought a Bosch clothes washer that we are very happy with, and so water efficent! A friend of mine is on a cistern (sp???) and has all Bosch appliances and washer. You will love the Bosch!

Thanks for all the input everyone :)

Does anyone have a Bosch refrigerator by chance as I am looking at the side by side counter depth one's but they are 30" deep - does that include the handles? I know 30" is not true counter depth but all that I have looked at are all 28.75" to 30" unless you go with Miele or Sub Zero and for $6500+ sooooooo not going to happen :)

Pia, just in case you don't get measurements:

The specs make it look like the 30" would include the handles. 24" for the body of the unit without doors; 27 6/16" (isn't that 27 3/8?) with the doors, so the extra 2+ inches would be the handles.

That's for the Linea 800 series; the 500 looks like the same measurements but I just took a quick look. If you're concerned about clearance in front of the refrigerator (e.g., if there's an island facing it), this view might be handy:

These images are under "Additional Documents" if you look up the refrigerator on their site. (I'm kind of a kitchen geek so I like looking at this stuff. )

No mention of GE!?!?!

I re-did my kitchen about 13 years ago. Got all GE thanks to some deals. DW, Frig, Stove, MW/convection. Have replaced a couple of structural parts (door and control support) on MW, which I attribute to 2 teenage boys who think push button or close the door means PUSH and CLOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had one repair to the fridge, done under warranty.

Had to replace the basic pump/motor for the DW within a year of install, under warranty, and did it again myself 2 more times. They are CRAP!!!!

A year ago when it happened again, I said no more.

Bought a Bosch, mid-upper level, definitely more expensive than others. Don't have the mileage to say if it will perform better, but bought it based on reviews, particularly with longevity in mind.

And quiet? Others have mentioned it, but I will say it again. We have an open floor plan, and this thing is awesome! My SIL with a house worth 3X ours was here and helping load dishes after a holiday get together. We started it. She is standing right there. She says when does it start? It has. She says oh it must get louder when it really gets going. No, that's it. She says she's hoping she needs a new DW soon, has a high end Kitchenaid.

Good luck on your shopping Pia, almost didn't post after seeing all the Bosch DW quiet posts, but figured one more +++ would add to the tally.

Hubby is happy with his Bosch dishwasher used in his micro lab for washing glassware. It is the stainless steel tub/no drying cycle model. He found that always using the rinse aid as recommended improved the drying ability greatly.

Sounds like a great remodel...
