Weather Forcast

I was listening to Isle 95 and they gave the weather forcast. He said there is a tropical wave that might reach the islands in the middle of next week. I don't know how that will affect our trips, but bring something to do in the villa.

Two words I really don't like to hear are "tropical wave" second only to the "H" word.

We had a tropical wave that parked over us for nearly a week one year. NOT fun.

I'll pack a couple more books along with the usual rain poncho!

Not too happy to hear that. Can someone elaborate on what that could mean?

I just checked all of my bookmarked weather sites (we have a lot that we check daily once we get into "H" season) and found no mention of it - hopefully they Isle 95 were wrong.

This should help:

A tropical wave normally follows an area of sinking, intensely dry air, blowing northeast. After passing the trough line, the wind veers southeast, the humidity abruptly rises, and the atmosphere destabilizes. This yields widespread showers and thunderstorms, sometimes severe. As the wave moves westward, the showers gradually diminish.

You'll be in a tropical depression. You'll have the blue water blues...

Sounds like a good chunk of rain coming

104.9 the Mongoose said there is tropical wave quite a bit away, that "may figure into the weather toward the middle of next week" and produce some rain.

C'est la vie, hopefully they still serve wet patrons at Woody's and the Beach Bar!

thank you Pia for preventing a heart attack. i just checked a few sites and saw some real vague stuff about Western Caribbean and a possible wave in a few days...

let's just hope for the best. 'cause I am already nervous about the road to our villa...i don't think it is paved.

I suggest everyone who will be on-island next week start doing the anti-rain dance! I do not want to spend a week in the villa reading a book and drinking......I prefer to do both on the beach!

DJ Mom - the USVI is not in the western Caribbean so no worries there!

The forcast came up again and I made notes.

He said there is a tropical wave out at 31W and it figures to affect the weather in the middle of next week.

31W is about 420 miles west of Cape Verde and about 2000 miles east of STJ.

The weather.com site talks about 60% chance of rain next Wednesday.

Tuesday and Thursday are given lesser chances of rain.

Sorry if this caused undue alarm or chest pains. Just bring the poncho and a good book. That might be a villa gravity day. It would be even better if it passes overnight. :)

There will be no rain and no skeeters. PERIOD.

(Caveat: If there is rain or skeeters, Flipper will be inside drowning her sorrows with tangos, i.e. tang made with rum).
