Day sail and snorkel

Post by AquaGirl »

Hello forumites,
I really enjoyed reading the trip reports in Nov and Dec - thanks to all who took the time to post. Hubby and I are booked for our second trip to STJ in April. Used frequent flyer miles on AA (out of Washington, DC), booked Bayview Villa (based upon recommendation by Bob & Anita), and reserved our jeep with Bougainvillea (Schnell Studios - used them last time and they were great). We love to talk about and plan our upcoming trip as a "mini mental getaway".
We would like to take 2 sailing/snorkel trips around STJ (saving the BVIs for a different trip). Last year we went with Capt Phil and had some great snorkeling in the St James islands area. We enjoyed that trip, but we would like to be on bigger boat this time. (8 people on his sailboat was a bit squishy for our taste.)
I have picked up some tidbits of info from various trip reports and wanted to ask for information about these. We enjoy sailing and want to have plenty of time in the water snorkeling. We don't drink alcohol while snorkeling, so a party boat is not what we are looking for. A captain who is into snorkeling too would be a plus, but not required. The ones I have heard a little bit about are:
White Wing and Capt Clark - several people had great reviews of this trip - looks like a beautiful boat in the pictures on the web
Flywaway Charters - their web site mentions a power cat, but no picture
Breath with Capt Jared. - this sailboat is so cool looking
For anyone who has been on a trip with one of these, can you tell me about the trip and if you would recommend it?
If someone has been with other charters, I would love to hear about that too.
Thanks - I appreciate all the great info on this forum.
