Day trip to Virgin Gorda ?s
I posted these questions under a different heading (along with some Concordia Eco-tent questions) yesterday. All of my Concordia questions have been answered (Thanks, Amy!!), but I am still wondering if anyone has answers to the following:
We would like to take the public ferry over to Virgin Gorda one day just to explore the Baths (and for a change of pace one day). From my online research, my understanding is that we can just show up for the public ferry 30 minutes early and buy tickets (no reservations needed). Once on VG, we can easily get a taxi to the Baths. Also, it looks like the Top of the Baths would be a fun place for lunch and seems to be easily accesible from the Baths area.
1. Does all of this sound accurate?
2. How do we get a taxi back to the ferry dock - do we arrange a pick up when we are dropped off at the Baths, or are there taxis just waiting there?
3. Is there adequate parking at the public ferry dock in Cruz Bay?
Thanks in advance for the help/advice!

Hi Smiles
We have done this 2 times now - You are correct that you do not need reservations for the ferry to VG - just remember to bring your Passports & cash - I'm not sure, but they may not take a credit card.
Once the ferry docks in VG, you go through customs - that usually takes 15-30 minutes - depending on how many people there are. Many - if not most people on the ferry will also be en route to The Baths, and it is most likely, there will be a taxi driver orchestrating a bunch of you to go over in 1-3 open-air taxis. The driver drops you off, he will tell you when to be at the designated area (where he dropped you off) so he can pick you up after your adventure at The Baths, and bring you back to the dock in time for the departure back to St. John.
When he drops you off at The Baths, it is a little hike down to the waterfront - but once there - it is MAGNIFICENT!!! There are small lockers ($1- $3 - I forget) for you to store things... and a small snack bar where you can eat - and of course, bathrooms
The Top of the Baths is up from where you are originally dropped off (and picked up)- a short walk. We did not eat there - but did have a soda and sat for a little bit. It is a lovely view -but the view to die for is down by the shore - make sure when you're down at The Baths - you find out how to walk over to Devil's Cove - it is an area next to The Baths (or part of?) that is somewhat secluded and is AWE-INSPIRING - almost surreal!
I really can't answer your question to #3 - we've stayed at Gallows and have walked to the pier - so I have no clue as to the parking situation...
Anyway - you will LOVE IT!

Parking in Cruz Bay is always a challenge. Your car rental company may have room for you in their lot.
Depending on where you're staying, you may want to cab to Cruz Bay for the day.
We spent a week on VG in November. I believe there were taxi's either waiting or cycling through to take folks back to Spanishtown or Ferry dock.
Definitely take the trail down; then take the caves trail over to Devil's bay. there is a trail back from Devil's bay that brings you back on top near 'Top of the baths" (pass through Stone Bay). We enjoyed both breakfast and lunch at "top of the bath". And if you have time, Mad Dogs has the best Pina Colada's and a pretty good BLT.

Great details on the baths and Top of the Baths resturant and shopping area. We will definitely work in a day trip. I like your idea using the ferry and taxi. Have an awesome time, and be sure to post details on your trip!
