A professor at the University of Florida (UF); seemed short and something I might remember, most of the time anyway.

[quote="Puddlejumper"]My kind of girl! A sailorgirl! Nice ride.

Thanks! She's a 78 Chrysler 22 with a swing keel, she's based on a Hawlsey Herreshoff design so she has some nice bones. We bought her for $600, sight unseen on Ebay and spent a few months fixing her up, mostly cosmetic stuff. We start our third season with her soon. She's built like a tank and practically unsinkable, believe me we almost did once! We call her "Buona Fortuna".

Mine is easy - like VickiH and RickG, it's just my name and my last initial. Most people think it's pronounced like Margie but it's actually pronounced with a hard "g". I used to use one of our dog's names - WeeBJammin' - but folks thought it had something to do with the internet rather than the Marley song, turning it into Web-Jammin', and I got bored explaining it to those who didn't get it (kind of like our love for the VI). Then I tried using the other dog's name: Buckaroo Banzai Boo and running it all together but that was a lot to type and most folks didn't get the connection to Buckaroo Banzai anyway - the little low-budget movie that became a cult film (but, still, always remember - "no matter where you go...there you are!" - I still think that's a stellar line) so...I gave up and now I'm just me...every place, every forum

CaptainJay is my husband Jay who has his captain's license and I'm MrsCaptainJay because I have no imagination and he had been online awhile before I came out of lurkdom.

Why, CG, I'm surprised at you asking that! Everyone knows that the watermelon was part of Perfect Tommy's answer to world hunger...

Lax is sometimes used as an abbreviation for lacrosse and I used to play lacrosse for the University of Arizona Wildcats - hence laxcat's is what we were often called.

Mine is just a habitual bastardization of my surname...just a login name habit at this point.

It turns out many people in the US with a last name similar to Scherbaum, Sherbahn, Sherban came from this one guy, Conrad Sherbaum who appeared near Berks county Pennsylvania in about 1756. I spent a couple years doing pieces of our family tree back about7-8 years ago...I love detective work.

My husband imposed a limit of 2 regarding our family cat population to try to save me from eventually becoming one of those "crazy cat ladies" (a fate which I don't see as all that terrible).
I found a loophole, though, because his exact words were that "the number of cats in the household can not be greater than the number of human members in the household."
As of this posting, I'm pregnant and I have a third cat. Ha ha.
I guess the joke's on him.
Wait a minute. Maybe I didn't think that out so well.

Kathy, aren't you going to extremes to rebel? Hmm, maybe you can teach both of the new additions to use a litter box?

Cheers, RickG

my name is really Joanne. I have 7 sisters and 1 brother. We all have several nicknames for each other but "jofus" was one that all of them have in common for me
