I agree... Uncle Joe's was good BBQ and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, but it isn't world class. But, for the price, and the setting, I would go back.wontongirl wrote:I'e had some pretty good bbq in my life and I thought Uncle Joes was fine, nothing special. Just like BBQ at any little town in Arkansas you might stop by and grab. It smells great and if you had a big day of cocktails and were starving, I can see where it wouldbe great.
We had a wonderful meal at Margarita Phil's when we were there. Amy ordered a Steak Burrito that she felt was the best that she has eaten and my shredded beef tamales were the best I've had outside of Mexico and the Alaskan King Crab Taco was out of this world.wontongirl wrote:I rarly hear anything good about Margarita Phil's. Maybe it will do for a Tex/mex fix!

Kygirl......Thanks for Ronnie's #.
I reread all the posts and took notes. The list of places I haven't tried is much longer than I expected: Quiet Mon, Sun Dog, Donkey Diner, Sosa's, Island Blues, Aqua Bistro, Vie's garlic chicken (which day is that served?), China Shack, Jolly Dog(where is that?), and Rick, thanks for the idea of the Maho Campground Restaurant.
I have to say overrated for me is Margarita Phil's, but it was a few years ago, and we are Texans and have great TexMex on every corner, so I hate to bash them.
Underated: Trunk Bay......I love the frozen drinks and burgers. I also love to acutally use a real bathroom and take a shower. I try to avoid the cruise ships as much as possible. The snorkeling off to the right is really pretty good and if the water is calm enough, you can swim around the point to a very small, deserted beach. Quite romantic!! I won't go into detail.

Wonton - re Blue Moon, if you only have limited time there, no need to waste time going off site. In addition to what others said, if restaurant is full or if you are in mood for something lighter, I believe they have a bar menu with stuff like good burgers and salad with mahi etc. Also good breakfast burritos if you are there in the morning.
Cypress and others - now those of us who how have sung the praises of Sun Dog will never get a table at lunchtime...
Re Shipwreck, our first experience there was memorable. Back on shore in Coral Bay in the dark after great daysail on White Wing, we went with Shipwreck for dinner. Had good live music that night, with various patrons feeling no pain dancing or even singing with the band. Good blackened snapper, Mahi, and some of the best fish and chips I’ve tasted (believe it was grouper). We had a blackout while waiting for food (band too loud? Maybe the guitar was turned up to 11...) This caused much merriment in and around the bar. The speed with which the generator was fired up restoring power to restaurant gave the impression that this was not an infrequent occurrence. Delivery of food and drinks was barely interrupted. Cool ending to a great day.
