I've tried to read this post and keep my mouth shut, but I just can't any more. I know we all have our opinions that are based on years of history and one election is not going to change too many minds. Those that are undecided at this stage in the election probably aren't paying too much attention and hopefully won't vote.
I'm a die hard Christian conservative who is obviously in the minority on this board. I love to go to STJ and drink and party so what can I say, I'm not perfect. I've never been a John McCain fan, (not conservative enough for me), but considering the choices, there is no other choice for me.
What does Obama stand for??? Hope and change?? What change. Not all change is good. Tax cuts for 95% of Americans? Only 70% pay ANY taxes at all!!! Why should someone that doesn't pay taxes get a cut? 60% of those who don't pay taxes are going to vote for Obama (I wonder why?), plus all the college kids they can register on election day and drag to the polls. And if you want to solve the gasoline crisis, get a tire gauge and pump up your tires? WTF?? Was he serious? I can not vote for anyone who will go to foreign countries and trash America. I don't even think Bill Clintion did that.
I could go on and on, but then again, I'd sound like Hannity or Limbaugh. LOL! I don't think anyone who has solid convictions should be afraid to speak their mind in this country. Hope I didn't piss anyone off too much. Love you all, dawg gone it.

You know what's great about this thread or any other thread, for that matter, is the fact that we all have the freedom to speak our mind and not be persecuted for it. We may not all agree and some who are more passionate may get hot under the collar, but we get to say what's on our minds without fear. Democrat, Republican, Indpendent or Non Partisan, we all have the same freedom to speak freely and I think that's just super! Keep up the good work! Keep exercising your American freedoms! We live in the best country in the world!

I care. Integrity, honor, commitment come to mind. Like most on here I could go on and on but who really cares. Your not changing my mind and I'm not changing yours. As for being in the minority of conservatives on this forum, I disagree. I think we are the majority. The poll had over a thousand looksee's and only 70 votes. Why? Perhaps most conservatives don't bother taking the time to sign on to vote and aren't going to get in the sand box and argue with people who just don't get it. Some, like me, and I'm not the brightest bulb in this box, come on line and get worked up and have the need to spout off. Lovey thinks I'm crazy (and she's always right) to bother as well. I think it's fun. I really like this forum and have learned what I need to know about SJ from it. I just cannot tolerate Liberals. I can't, I said it. They want what I have worked hard my whole life to get and they want me to give it to them for nothing. No one ever has given me anything. My wife and I have worked very long and very hard to get to the point we are at. I don't mind paying taxes I just belive enough is enough and the more I keep the more I employ and thats a good thing. I won't bore you anymore except for our motto: "Make alot, Save alot, and give alot away". Back to my coffee and the view of the sunrise over the lake.Kathyzhere wrote:Okay, not to sound outdated or anything![]()

Okay gotcha DaveS...but still, who is Joe 6-pack???
All I was implying about Clinton is good 4 him for getting some, isn't that every guys wish. It does not make me think less of him because of it. The woman should have been his wife and that doesn't particularly settle well, but people do make mistakes in their lives. I think plenty of the politicians partake and haven't been caught, yet!
Personal lives are not entirely important to me. Like McCain leaving his disabled wife for "man hands", that's really none of my business. Oh and Palin's underaged daughter being pregnant, I don't hold that against Sarah for not teaching her child birth control or about abstinence.
Anyway, enjoy this beautiful day!!!

Didn't you hear........Bush caused the World Trade Center attacks and Hurricane Katrina. At least that's what Rosie and Al Gore said. I'm sure they must be right.jmq wrote:Since we’ve established beyond any doubt that everything bad in the past 15 years is Clinton’s fault, now I can’t decide if GW Bush is just a Great President or the Greatest President.

Actually, I agree, Bush has been a terrible disappointment.

Ok, I've been pretty quiet through all of this but I just have to comment. I am a LIBERAL, and surprise no one ever gave me anything, except my parents who instilled in me the values of immigrants who survived through the Depression. Know how they did that... well one of those reviled LIBERAL programs known as the WPA. That's right, every day my grandfather who spoke no English and had a 2nd grade education, got up at 3:00AM and rode trains and buses from Brooklyn out to what was then the hinter lands of Queens New York stood knee deep in marsh land and carved out what would become Laguardia airport. He did that for years and for that the government gave him a check.
At 18 my father was drafted, as were millions of his great generation and he served in the Pacific in WWII. In return his government sent him to college, a program I might add which has been severely limited in recent times.
I have worked since I was 14, and paid my way through College and Law School..that's right I'm a liberal NY lawyer... let the generalizations begin!
I have never taken a penny I did not earn. I pay more than my fair share of taxes, I purchased my own home as a single woman 12 years ago after saving... again what a concept... for the down payment for many years. I give back by doing pro bono work and volunteering in my community.. and I venture to say that my story is by no means unique.
So after this rant, the point I'm making is let's stop generalizing about "Libs" and "Right Wingers". It muddles the discourse and distracts from the real issues. We are country at War with an economy that is tanking, and an environment which is crumbling. Decide who you think will best address those issues and vote accordingly!
Ok now back to your regular programing.

Remember Clinton was not impeached for getting a BJ. He was impeached because he lied when questioned at a sworn deposition. In fact he was disbarred in the state of Arkansas.
So I think it is fair to say, that it's not all about sex in the White House.
And in any case, it's a great day here in Los Angeles. Orenthal Simpson looks like he's going to be looking for his wife's murderer from behind bars. Good job Las Vegas. Something Los Angeles couldn't bring itself to do. And I'm sure the Goldman's are a bit more happy today.

Well said. I agree. Too bad "todays" libs don't see it that way. Clinton, Obama, Pelosi come to mind.sailorgirl wrote:I just cannot tolerate Liberals. I can't, I said it. Definition: a lower-middle-class or blue-collar male; also written [Joe Six-Pack]Kathyzhere wrote:Okay gotcha DaveS...but still, who is Joe 6-pack???
Etymology: from average 'Joe' watching TV with a six-pack of beer
Usage: derogatory slang
This is from Websters dictionary. BTW notice the usage - "derogatory slang". Just a reminder to all, synonyms for derogatory are; belittling, uncomplimentary, denigrating.
I personally take great offense to this label the Republican party is using. Granted it may be that they just jumped on that before the Democrats, I understand that. But it is an insult to everyone!!! I don't think it is a very intelligent catch phrase.
Sailorgirl - Bravo!
