Why??? We've all outted ourselves long before a year ago. Nothing on this forum is a surprise to me. I, for one, am not happy or unhappy about the Olympics. No biggie either way to me. It's a GAME, not life and death.

I've never been called a "subgroup". Kinda cool for a gal my age. I'd rather be called a Cougar, but subgroup will work.

The subgroup that I was speaking about both celebrated tht the Olympics wouldn't be held in the U.S. and were outraged that their president received a prestigious international award. So if you didn't celebrate the Olympics not being held in the U.S.
you wouldn't be included in that subgroup.

But to try to be more clear---if I'd heard a year ago that a year from then, there would be Americans who would be rooting against the Olympics being held in the U.S. and would be irate if their president received an international award, I would have guessed that they might be part of some left-wing fringe group. I'd certainly expect that the right and middle would want to have the Olympics to showcase our country and that a prestigious international award bestowed upon one of our leaders would be something we all would take pride in.

Well, a year ago, it would have been a left-winged fringe group bitching about this award. Bush was president. But this award is not the issue. It's taxes, national defense, the destruction of health care as we have all become used to in this country, and so many more important issues than a silly award that many on that list didn't deserve.

I don't blame Obama for getting the award. That's not really a big deal, it just spurred this debate of his competency forward, which is a good thing. Right?? We are all in the same boat, so why not talk about it, argue our points, and agree or disagree? It's not personal. I know those in Washington fight on the floor of Congress, and have drinks together at night. It's a big game, and we're the ones at stake.

Lex, I can only speak for myself, I am not happy that we didn't get the Olympics. Our business would have gotten a nice bump. I am not far from Chicago and would have loved to see them. I am not sure who you feel is happy about it--I think there were some comments made in sarcasm earlier.

I have already explained that I am not upset with Obama about the peace prize. I am more annoyed with how his followers spin the truth and try to explain why he is so worthy. Because he was elected? Please.

I can't blame you Sherban since the great uniter shares this attitude but clearly it is far from uniting.

Didn't you complain when Bush was President? Wasn't the election over then?? Where was your patriotism? Go Team USA? Is that supposed to only apply when your party wins?

The right wing and the terrorists seem to have a common agenda now - if it in any way reflects positively on Obama it is bad, if it is bad for Obama it is good. Where have all the good patriots gone?

I swear he could come up with the cure for cancer and the extreme right would be pissy and indignant and pick it apart and find a way to spew hate.

He (Obama), much like those here attempt to expose the lunacy of the "if its good for Obama I am against it" knee jerk reaction, can't win. Oh, but wait we already did.

If he comes up with a cure for cancer, all by his own little self, I'll change my mind about him. Anyone want to make any bets on that one? He's too busy jetting all over the world apologizing for America. Isn't it curious that the nastiest dictators and rulers of the world love this guy? I can't for the life of me understand why all of you don't think that's just the tiniest bit disturbing. I guess some of you are just so idealistic, you think there is really a chance to "talk some sense" into these (for lack of a better word) people. He's is the guy in charge, for the moment. I guess we'll see how that works out for us. We better be praying for this country every day.

Awwww, I even made a positive comment about former President Bush in an earlier post - the video where he said that if a US City got the olympics that was a good thing. In addition to that I have to give the man props for his display of amazing reaction time when that shoe was thrown at him. I was truly impressed. (NO TONGUE IN CHEEK!)

There is a difference between disagreeing with your president on his politicial record and simply being hateful NO matter what the man does. Oh he didn't secure the olympic bid - YAY clap clap clap smile smile smile, he won a prestigious prize - he didn't deserve it! booo hiss he sucks. It just seems ridiculous to me.

I have never said nor do I believe that Bush is an evil, intentionally harmful person. I just think his worldview didn't allign with mine and in the long run would not make us safer. I do think he thought he was. I really do. Just as I don't for a second think that now that Obama is in office the end is near and that he will do anything but the best he possibly can for this country.

I want our leaders to succeed even if I didn't vote for them because I feel part of their team.

All is good then--I should not assume. Questioning policy or decisions and making negative comments is one thing. But to say Bush or Obama is a ( ) fill in the blank. That is entirely different.
