HELP!
Re: HELP!
I must have missed these past few posts back when they were posted. I just read them because of CptKirk's post. Marcia, for the record, I don't read your response as snarky (okay, well maybe a littleMarcia (Mrs. Pete) wrote:
If you don't want your vacation, or can't get excited about it, I know of four children who would give anything to take your place.
Sorry if this was snarky. I just can't relate.

On a lighter note, I am packed and ready to go. It's all over but the waiting. I'm going to do my best to put the world on hold leave the junk behind and just enjoy the precious time I am lucky enough to have down there. Truly, I do realize that in many ways, I am very lucky. I'll see y'all when I get back.

Vicki, I do hope you have a wonderful trip. Take a deep breath and let the island do its thing to help you heal.

Missing St. John. As always.

I can relate, Vicki. We were lucky to have been able to go down to STJ for three years in a row and then the 4th year was really hard for us.
We travelled down with hubby's parents that 4th year with heavy heavy hearts.
Hubby's grandfather had JUST passed away (after a long battle with cancer), his grandmother was not quite settled in to her new place (and she was alone) and MIL was the primary caregiver for both of them. Let's just say it was very hard for her to relax- she had many phone calls back and forth and had little control over what was happening stateside but she REALLY needed to get away from it all.
Add to that (and I'm not saying that this equals a grandparent), hubby's dog had JUST been diagnosed with cancer and had major surgery a week before we left. He was on the mend and was being taken care of by people we trust but it was touch&go that we might even cancel our several-months-in-advance-planned-and-paid-for-no-travel-insurance STJ vaca.
Being in paradise isn't always easy. Life does sometime get in the way even when you are really trying hard to run away from it for a little while.

Vicki,
I can relate to having bad things happening before you are leaving. I just had an issue before we left. I felt guilty for going even though things were stable. I did end up having a great time and I know you will too. As you know, STJ has excellent healing powers!

Going "home" again October 26th!
