I've learned, the hard way, over the last two weeks that it's the cherry in the Buchwhackers that really get you. I thought you might have tried snorting yours. Thanks for clearing that up.

I've gotta jump in here ... what a thread. I first started reading it thinking ... yea, where IS Vicki. Then, oh she's on St. John right now ... lucky Vicki. With her Mom and MIL ... hmmmm maybe not so lucky, receiving nasty PM's while she should be enjoying her vacation ... I agree that "if you don't like it, don't read it." I really don't even know how to deal with the PC talk.
Now I am laughing at all of the Mom stories. My mother has a cell phone, but NEVER turns it on. If she makes a call she turns it off immediately, so that no one can call her. She got a new computer about 6 months ago, and called my husband daily to come help her with it. I love her and I know that I am fortunate to have her here though.

Perish the thought! I'm scared of clowns! (Right Jorge??) I'll post a bigger picture of that. But yes it is a cherry. Why? Because it was there and my nose was feeling lonely that night...

I'm scared of clowns too, and so was kinda scared of you for a bit, but now that I know it was an innocent cherry....

One afternoon, not that long ago, I was driving the kids to some blasted soccer game, or whatever, and we pulled up to a stop light. Behind us, in a beat up Chevy, was a "clown" apparently on his way to his next gig. He had the whole clown face and wig thing, but was wearing a wife beater and chain smoking. I turned to the kids, "hey, look behind us, there's a clown." Now, they, too are afraid of clowns.

I think I did the right thing, don't you?

Mom's and MILs are too funny and sometimes I have to remind myself that as far as my 14 year old stepdaughter is concerned I am just as out of touch!

I guess it all depends on the life stage you are in!

"Clownophobia". It's universal. And don't you think when the clown was in his clown make-up he shouldn't be smoking. What kind of example does that set for kids?? Picture this. Crusty's at the party making balloon animals. He's swearing the wife-beater, and has a cigarette with an inch long ash hanging off of it at the corner of his mouth. One kid starts crying. And he looks over at the kid and says, "Shut up kid or I'll give ya somethin' to really cry about!"

I was on a bus in Cancun about 12 years ago. It was after midnight (we were college kids headed home from the club) and a clown got on the bus. Without saying a word or giving any expression, he walked to the back of the bus and sat down, staring straight ahead. My friend Brent has an unnatural fear of clowns, and he couldn't stop turning around and monitoring the clown. "What's wrong with him?" he said. "Why is he just sitting there, staring?" he asked. "What else is he supposed to do, he's on a bus," we all said.

Lesson: Cocktails and Clowns do not mix.

That story isn't very funny, but it's the only slightly amusing one in my "clown" arsenal. Plus, I like the tangential nature of this thread. Levity, it's a wonderful thing.
