Pia,
You should definately go sling your s**t, after you've had your drinks. I thought that response on the "other" "other" forum was way harsh.

That's it. I'm going over there right now to kick some butt.
(I'm only kidding. I'm scared to even talk about the weather over there.)

All I can say is OUR answers to the "What to do for Hubby for birthday?" question are far more entertaining. We are a randy bunch.

Margy Z,
I'm sorry that no one mentioned this to you before, but laughing out loud is strictly forbidden on this forum.
With or without the Pom Poms, we take ourselves pretty seriously here.
Just so you know what you're getting yourself into.

I found you all.

Pia mentioned this site to me a while ago, but I just now found it. I have the same screen name everywhere I go. Also it is my real name. I was not on the 'other' site so much anymore. The first Islander was and is a female actually. She has assistants that have now become Islanders as well. The problem with that site is that on an Island of 50,000 and islands of 105,000, everyone knows or knows of each other in the 'real' world, so on the site they skip the whole etiquette part and go off of what they already know. It can be hard to jump into the whole thing. I got beat up regularly and am now immune.

It turns out that when you meet the people in person you have a whole new opinion of them.
Well that is my intro in 'short' form. I have frequented the wonderful on-stjohn blog lately and am all over the place. St. John is an addiction I can't seem to shake off. Anyone else have this problem? IMHO, St. Thomas is a mess and I have never been to STX. Well, I promise to only post when I am a good mood here.

Nice to hear from you all and I do like this forum as well. I am bookmarked and everything! See you all around. Happy trails!

Ruth - Thanks for the heads up. I will try to keep in line over here - I've retired my big ol' pot stirring spoon and had it bronzed.
Teresa - Hi! I made a friend over "there" who posts quite a bit. She is local to STT and I met her when I was there in May and she posts just as nice as she is. I think it takes just as much effort to be nice and encouraging as it does to be mean and condescending (did I see that on a sampler somewhere??) so I guess I still don't get the motivations - unless the point is to discourage people from coming down.
Re STT, we still like it. We have been coming down to the VI since the 80's and have seen so many changes but we are still willing to "take the left turn" on STT and stay out in the beautiful Peterborg or Carat Bay areas. Since we have been coming down so long we have the benefit of having learned where to go where the crowds will not be so that makes a big difference. We finally got to STX for the first time in April and we loved it. DH showed me the cover of the new Caribbean magazine that announced that STX was the next big thing and we both said - oops, there it goes!! We'll see...
Thank you!

I still have many friends on STT and love to visit. It is nice when you know where to go, but I don't want to live there again. Whole different story. I love Peterborg and there are some great houses for weekly rentals with some fabulous views! STJ was my get away from day to day living and I fell in love as most everyone does.
I did live on STT for two years and even after two years I would go to Charlotte Amalie to shop and taxi drivers would holler at me, "Back to the ship?". I would yell back, "your kids and my kids go to the same school, quit asking me that!" I have often heard that you are not a real resident until you have lived through a hurricane and stayed as a resident. I think everyone gets to know everyone after a disaster. So I will never be a true resident, but had quite the experience! My advice of the day, "Do not stay at the beach past 3:00 p.m." Sand fleas will get you! Happy days ya'll.
