Nancy & kygirl, Though I've never rented from Billy at bookit-vi, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. He is a regular at Island Blues and Aqua Bistro and he's a guy who exudes integrity. He's also a blast to have a drink with. Nothing but good things to say about him. I have a loyality to Windspree, but bookit would be my next choice.

We are villa owners, and yes, we are the ones that pay for the welcome baskets. At the rental company we use now it is required, but at our previous rental company it was optional. (Believe me, the rental companies never pay for anything themselves regarding the villas!)

We've always done it because we think it's a nice thing to do for the guests and we used to enjoy them when we were renters and not owners.

Dear Villa Owner,

Does the renter have the option of requesting NO welcome basket? Would the management company reduce the rental rate? How about no ferry dock / rental car pick-up and escort/orientation to the villa?

Sometimes we stay two weeks and/or stay at a villa we've rented previously. There are times when we do not need, or particularly want a pick-up, escort or basket.

Just curious . . .

Patr, Windspree loves me because I insist that they don't meet us at the ferry. It just adds to the confusion, and we've been down there enough times that there really is no need for them to come all the way from Coral Bay to greet us. I do get them to make the car rental arrangments, and get them to verify the day before we get there that all is set. We have never gotten a welcome basket, though we have gotten Windspree soft coolers, sometimes filled with sample soaps, shampoo, etc. I had never heard of a welcome basket before I found this board. As repeat clients, renting on short notice, they have cut us a break on the rental. Much better then a welcome basket!

Hi patr

You know, I am not sure about that. I am sure if you don't want to get picked up or a basket, they will be happy to do that, but since those are services they provide free of charge to you, it wouldn't affect your rental rate. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to ask, though. I am also sure that we will probably still be charged for the basket whether you get it or not. Such are my feelings on the rental agencies.
