Who Dat?
In fact, that was their calling card all season. The Saints led the league in defensive touchdowns with 8, were 3rd in the league in interceptions with 26, and were 2nd in the league in total takeaways with 39. This team was a turnover machine all season long, led by Darren Sharper.jmq wrote:Very happy for the Saints, but jeez, I thought their defense was better than that. About the only thing the Saints defense was good at against the Vikes was knocking the ball loose causing fumbles.
That said, they were ranked 25th in the league in total defense, allowing 358 yards/game. Their pass defense was ranked 26th, giving up 236 yards/game in the air. That stat might be a bit misleading, as most teams found themselves down big by the middle of Q2 in most games against the Saints, so their competition had to throw a lot. Their rushing defense was ranked 21st.
This is an opportunistic defense, and if they don't get turnovers, they're not going to win. The Colts can win without turnovers.
Go Saints!

Also, looking for a place to watch the game that will be OK FOR KIDS TOO. What about Michauls on St Charles? House of Blues is also having a party and kids can be in the restaurant. We are staying at the St Louis Hotel. Any thoughts? thanks

I didn't go to that parade but wanted to. You can see a bit of it here: http://www.wwltv.com/video/featured-vid ... 11992.html
I can't tell you where to watch it that is kid friendly. We are probably gonna actually watch it at home (normally we watch the Super Bowl at our favorite local bar) by ourselves because we actually want to watch the game and not have to be social. Win or lose, we will probably end up in the Quarter afterwards.
We watched the Championship game at home for the same reason then headed to the Quarter. I have to say that the Quarter was packed but completely different than it is during Mardi Gras. It was all locals and Vikings fans (who were awesome) having a great time...not a bunch of rowdy drunk tourists yelling, "Show your ti$s". It was all peace, love and WHO DAT!
Good luck with your decision on where you watch it. From what I have heard, the Quarter hotels are booked solid with people wanting to be here for the game.

I actually went to Buddy & Bobby's Buncha Brawds March today. I took my two daughters - ages 12 & 7 - to see the march at the Superdome where it started from. It was amazing to see all of the people out there paying tribute to Buddy D & Bobby Hebert was quite a site in drag! There were thousands of people out there. I am sure there are quite a few people that are reading this and thinking why would anyone take there kids to see a parade of men dressed in drag - why not - it was all about the spirit of New Orleans. The best part was that my 12 year old didn't want to go & after we were there she said that she was happy I brought her. My kids left with black & gold beads, flowers, who dat footballs (no they weren't official licensed NFL merchandize!) and even a fleur de lis spear. I must say that my favorite costume was a bunch of men that were dressed in pink leotards, tutus, had wings and a pink pigs nose to symbolize pigs flying!
BasUR - As for somewhere to watch the game that is kid friendly - I don't know. Like Nothintolose, I will be watching the game with my family . We all want to be together to watch the Saints make history & win! The Saints Superbowl game is soo big that both my kids have off of school the day after the game. I don't know how long you will be in New Orleans, but there will be a Win or Lose Parade with the Saints players & staff on Tuesday the 9th - time and route is yet to be determined.

nola girl - I had heard from Blaine Kern when he was on WWL radio the route for the parade was gonna start near the Superdome and go to Mardi Gras World. I also heard it was gonna be in the evening. Personally, I think the route should be much longer as there are gonna be so many people there!
I wanted to go today but my soccer team had a game and we were short on players. I was so bummed! Glad you got to go. From the looks of how many people were there, it just reaffirmed to me that they need to make the route for the post Super Bowl parade MUCH bigger.

Nola Girl - My kids are already missing Monday after the game and my husband is trying to get me to let them miss Tuesday as well. We are driving 6 hours to be "home" for the game! It's really tempting to stay another day.... as it always is!
They might as well shut down the city that day ... win or lose!

I am keeping a positive attitude about the game so with that being said i think it is safe to say that after the Saints win the city will pretty much shut down until Mardi Gras! All anyone is talking about & thinking about is the Superbowl and the Saints. We are all like a bunch of kids waiting for Santa to come to see what we got for Christmas.
It's finally next year!

The point spread had opened at around Colts -4 (-3.5 in some places) and has since moved up to about Colts -5.5 or -6 depending on where/when you look. If people keep betting on the Colts, it could reach 6.5, but don’t expect it to reach 7.
The over/under opened at about 55 and is now around 56.5 or 57. I don’t see that one coming back down, but doubt it would move much higher.
The Saints getting 6 points is not bad considering Dwight Freeney might not play or if he does, he won’t be as effective, which could also help blow out the over. If you like offense, it is likely to be an entertaining game.
