Wow, what a great (and enlightening!) thread.

I'm reassured to know I'm not the only uber-organizer here.

My first trip I had a folder (organized with tabs, of course) with about 2,000 sheets of paper plus two guide books and though I am sure I looked like a freak, I never regretted having that thing. I traveled solo then and it made me feel like a pro.

On the second trip I ditched the folder and went with note cards that I'd meticulously filled out and labled for easy reference. (Also good for when you've had a few drinks and cannot seem to remember what time the ferry leaves Jost.)

The last couple trips I haven't brought anything with me and it's been fine. Of course, I've also been blessed with having people on STJ that have "adopted" me and seem to point me in the right direction when I need it.

Oh, I guess you just wanted a list. Oops.

Aside from the "normal" stuff:
1- Tweezers
2- Special hair conditioner

1. "In the System"
Need I say more

Come on T22 you can come up with 4 more. Where is Bob and Chris' baby?

My honey would really be better at this list cause I just pick out a few cloths and she does the rest.
1 Bacon, Steaks, Chicken and Hamburger ya know the four basic food groups
2 My Sony Walkman Cell phone with about 50 Kenney Chesney and other Island Melodies loaded. I dare anyone to say anything bad about Kenny, I just dare ya
3 Laptop, Never Before always from now on since last trip.
4 My famous boonie,booney,boony hell however you spell my head protection.
5 Last but certainly not least always tell honey to bring the baby oil ya know for that deep St John tan

1. the thing that clips my hat to my shirt for the boat rides cuz otherwise it will fly off no matter what I do

2. huggies (ones that fit the cans and ones that fit the bottles) for everyone on the trip cuz they always forget to bring their own

3. dive light for the night snorkels

4. glow sticks to find the beach when we are night snorkeling

5. scrunci (sp?) thing I use to keep my bangs out of my face when snorkeling

- Where do you " Night Snorkel", and how do you beat the noseeums?

Not only do I bring my small laptop computer, but also my very small mini printer for printing those return boarding passes...guess I am a geek ...and yes I still have only one carry-on bag for the trip!

1. Head lamp (keeps your hands free for making drinks when the power goes out)
2. Dunkin Donuts ground coffee (like a true New Englander)
3. Binoculars (for watching boats! Yeah, boats.)
4. Thermal mug (for taking hot or cold drinks TO GO. Great for the beach also.)
5. Flat Iron (I almost never end up using it... Maybe next trip I'll be brave enough to leave it at home. But my concerns about frizz don't melt away until I actually get on the island.)

What are the bunji cords for?

Bungie cords and zip ties are two things that my hubby never leaves home without. We have used them for all kinds of crazy stuff. Typically the bungies would come in handy if you have more stuff than you can fit in your jeep, you can use them to secure stuff.

We've also needed a bungie in a pinch to fix a cheap umbrella stroller. The foot rest piece broke on a trip to FL and our daughter has long enough legs that her feet would almost drag the ground without something there to put her feet on...he made a foot rest out of a bungie.

They are small and don't take up a lot of space. Usually you don't need them but if you do they are great to have!

Oh yeah... I bring one of those stretchy cargo nets in case I need to hold something on the roof (like extra luggage or smelly trash).
