Shawshank Redemption: I could watch that movie again and again.

Schindler's List
Bull Durham
Pursuit of Happyness

and Heath Ledger was incredible in Dark Knight. It's not surprising that he suffered emotionally while making that movie. His character is so creepy and he played it so well.

Dusk til' Dawn... eeewwww! I had to turn that one off. Pia said no heads getting cut off and that is one of the goriest movies I've ever attempted to watch (although I must say I did like Reservoir Dogs, and that's pretty bloody).

True Lies, on the other hand is a super fun movie!

Yep - Dusk Till Dawn - the gore is so overdone that it just can't be "real" so it doesn't scare me. Quentin Tarantino has to show you everything and then show you some more. What scares me are those movies where you really don't see so much and your imagination takes over - now, THOSE, are scary.

Reservoir Dogs is a great movie.

I just saw "1408" with John Cryer on TV the other day, now that one freaked me out completely. You saw stuff, though not gory, but it tweaks your head really bad. Scary ghosts and going crazy kind of stuff.

Lots of great ideas here, and some of my favorite movies have been mentioned (ok, more than once), but I am also a huge fan of really old movies. I love the entire Thin Man series with William Powell & Myrna Loy (boy, could those two put away a few cocktails or what!). Anything with Cary Grant & Katherine Hepburn, specifically the Philadelphia Story and Bringing Up Baby - so funny! Also anything with Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, my favorite is Adams Rib. I'm not a huge Hitchcock fan, but I do love Orson Well Citizen Cane! Also, I first saw this movie when I was a kid and still love it to this day - the original Cheaper by the Dozen with Clifton Webb & Myrna Loy. All of these movies have very witty dialoge and all of the actors have a lot of style. Of course there are plenty of classics too, Gone with the Wind, etc. Well, you should have enough by now to keep you in a marathon for 2 years. Good luck and keep us posted.

CG - You mean 1408 with Cusack, right?? That was very scary - you didn't know what was real and what was not. He also did another movie that was scary as all hell - Identity. With both of these I felt like I did when I read The Shining - that one scared the willies out of me. But, then, I saw the movie and was not scared at all - guess my imagination was way scarier than what Jack Nicholson could do - lol.

Another good Cusack one that I forgot to mention: Pushing Tin.

Yes, Cusack! Thanks... I always get those two names mixed up! That movie totally creeped me out! It was one of those, "I think I know what's going on, but then I find out I really don't" kind of movies. I guess that makes it a really good movie... good for nightmares, that is! LOL!

It was good in the fact that it was scary, but not gory. It scares you but it doesn't gross you out.

Now I'll have to check out "Identity".

, I also liked the line about being a poor country and not having any blindfolds!) It has to be the original In-laws, though - the one with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin.

Sherban: Hi, doing fine - thinking about our trip to STX in April - can't wait! How are you? Have really enjoyed your Google mapping. My absolutely favorite holiday movie is The Ref, followed by Home for the Holidays. But, then, I am weird and come from a dysfunctional family and friends - no It's a Wonderful Life for me -
