Kathyzhere and Bug have both said their tattoos are for them and they do not share them with certain people or even care if any other human saw them. First of all, you can not share a tattoo, you would expose it allowing others to see it. Secondly, since it is for you, noone would probably want to see it since it probably has special meaning to you only thus making it less interesting to others.
Damn SJ, you're taking me back to 5th grade English class!
Oh and I do indeed share and display my tattoos most of the time. Your 2nd comment was confusing. Are you thinking that people choose their art for anyone else but themselves?? Think of your clothing as art...you're wearing a dress to please and interest the lady across the street?? Do you display a work of art, say a VanGogh, on your bedroom wall to please anyone else but yourself 1st?? So then because that piece of art is special to you all others will find it uninteresting.
It shouldn't be any other way than "it's for me"!
Let me guess; you were not hugged as a child.

When Leslie hit one of those milestone ages she got an awesome eagle ray tattoo on her back - the right quarter panel just above her rear end (small of her back, right side?).
She looked through scuba magazines and found three different photos that she liked, then went to the artist and said "I like the angle of this shot, the coloring of the ray in this one, and the way the tail looks in this one".
He sketched out a composite drawing that combined the elements that she liked from each, she liked the way it looked, and it's been a part of her ever since.
Certain things that she wears may just show a hint of the tail, especially if she's working (as a pediatric physical therapist she often is bending, stretching, lifting, etc. when she's working with the kids) and it's funny to see people that notice, and see which one's are curious enough to ask about it.
That's the extent of my experience with tattoos, but she thinks, after all of this time, that it was still a good location for hers (to get back on topic).

Okay SJ against my better judgement I will explain. My tats ARE a pvt part of myself...I did not say ON a pvt part of myself. I am a business office mgr at an ASC...I for the most part keep them covered while at work...no cleavage revealing or low-cut tops while I am seen by the patients. All my employees and physicians have seen all 3 otherwise, mostly at the holiday parties when more skin than usual is exposed. When I wear a dress or skirt that is higher than my mid calf then everyone that cares to look WILL see a beautiful rose on a vine. While in a swimsuit or tank top everyone that cares to look WILL see another rose and the word protect in chinese which is awaiting 2 more words- mother earth = protect mother earth.SJfromNJ wrote:Kathyzhere,
Your analogy of clothes is a good one. Getting a tattoo for only yourself to see is like wearing a custom made suit and putting a burlap bag over top so noone could see it. Unless your tattoos are insulting or embarrassing to yourself or others. Which one is it? I do maintain you cannot share a tattoo.
All my VanGoghs are in musiums forr all to see.
In a privious post you stated that your tattoos are a private part of your body. In your most recent post you claim to expose your tattoos most of the time. If you are exopsing them most of the time, how can they be private? Splain this to me.

You don't seem like a very nice person and I would appreciate an end to this. Someone asked for opinions and I answered because I DO have experience with the topic. I don't appreciate you trying to make a mockery of my posts here and if you need a hug here ya go ----> {{{{SJfromNJ}}}}
Is this your way of flirting with me SJ??

Tracy, sorry this turned into such a drag.

That makes sense. But, I said this last year at around this time and I'll say it again...this is the internet.StJohnRuth wrote:I expect this tattoo thread has not been a magical moment for Tracy.

If you post asking a bunch of strangers where to put your tattoo, you're gonna get a bunch of strange responses.

You got that right about the strange responses Pete. Thought for a minute that I had a crazed "fan" obsessed w/ me!

Hope you and the Mrs have a great day in paradise!

Is this the one? A girl from New Zealand took a photo of mine and did a watercolor.California Girl wrote:I can't remember who it is, but it's someone on this forum... someone took a great picture of a sea turtle and someone else had it made into a painting. It's a GREAT picture. Anyone remember who's picture it was?

Last time this topic came up, I took one of Liamsaunt’s photos and applied the “oil paint” effect to it using software trying to recreate similar.

Below happens to be one of my all time fav turtle pics taken by flickr contact Norm Walsh at Secret Harbour. Maybe not tattoo or painting worthy but very cool - kinda captures the essence of snorkeling.
